Spotify has been on a mission to make video podcasting easier and more accessible to creators everywhere. Today, we're excited to share a few updates that do exactly that.
Now live: Bring your videos to Spotify through your hosting platform
Earlier this year, we announced that leading podcast hosting providers would integrate with the Spotify Distribution API to support video. Today, Libsyn, Podigee, Audioboom, Audiomeans, and Podspace are officially live. This means creators using these platforms can now distribute video content directly to Spotify and monetize eligible content through the Spotify Partner Program. In the near future, partners will also have access to additional monetization options, including direct sales. With additional partner integrations in progress, this momentum is only accelerating.
Head to your hosting platform to start distributing video to Spotify. Video monetization on Spotify opens up new revenue streams alongside your existing audio, so there's no reason to wait.
Coming soon: Distributing video from Spotify hosting platforms to Apple Podcasts
Starting this year, Spotify for Creators and Megaphone will support Apple Podcasts’ HLS video technology. This will enable Spotify-hosted creators to distribute their video podcast content across platforms, reaching audiences on both Spotify and Apple Podcasts without changing their existing setup — a major step toward truly platform-agnostic video distribution. Spotify will also be supporting monetization for video content on Apple Podcasts so creators don't have to choose between audience reach and revenue.
We are actively working on this integration in coordination with Apple and will share timeline details soon.
Why this matters
Video is where podcast growth is happening. Expanding your show's presence across Spotify and Apple Podcasts means more discoverability, more engagement, and more ways to earn from the content you're already creating. We're committed to making sure every creator has the tools and flexibility to compete and earn in a video-first world, regardless of which hosting platform they call home.
Frequently Asked Questions
Distributing from Hosting Platforms to Spotify
What Spotify video features are supported through my hosting provider?
The following features are available through Spotify’s Distribution API:
- Distribution of video content to Spotify
- Video monetization (Spotify Partner Program, sponsorships, and soon dynamic direct sales)
- Video-specific analytics
Please note that while all of these capabilities are supported through the Spotify Distribution API, our API partners can choose which of these features they’d like to support in their platforms.
What happens to my RSS feed if I start uploading video to Spotify?
Your RSS feed will remain your main source for distribution to audio-only platforms. Any episode you upload will remain accessible and distributable by your RSS feed. The only difference is now you’ll also be directly uploading your video content to Spotify at the same time, making for a seamless upload experience.
What happens if I change my mind and no longer want to distribute video?
If video is no longer right for your show, Spotify can transition your show back to an audio-only RSS feed. Once this happens, all of your previously uploaded episodes, including the video ones, will transition to an audio-only experience and will remain in your RSS feed. You will continue to have access to many Spotify-first features, like comments and polls. However, features that are exclusive to the video format, like sponsorship management tools and video ads, will no longer be available.

Does video distribution to Spotify look different from distribution to Apple Podcasts?
In order to provide Spotify-first streaming capabilities, Spotify requires content to be directly uploaded to the platform instead of distributed through standardized methods, such as RSS. This enables us to provide creators with the powerful tools they need to take full advantage of Spotify’s streaming strength, such as monetization based on actual user engagement, real-time performance analytics, and more. While this does change how video shows are distributed to Spotify, this also allows creators to easily tap into Spotify-first advantages while continuing to use RSS for distribution elsewhere.
Will I be able to manage both Spotify and Apple monetization together?
We will share more information soon on how video monetization for Apple Podcasts-distributed video will work through our creator platforms. However, our goal is to make monetization easy no matter where your content is viewed.
