Bismarck North Dakota Temple
The Bismarck North Dakota Temple was built to support saints living over a large area, over 200,000 sq miles! It is a blessing to members who once drove 12-16 hours to get to their nearest temple. The Church bought extra land in the early 1980's, not really knowing what it could be used for, and held onto the land when it didn't really make sense to do so. Check out the full episode to learn more!

Colonia Juarez Chihuahua Mexico Temple
What a joy it was to learn about this temple and the people serving in Colonia Juarez! This is the smallest temple in the church! (6,800 sq ft) and it is the location where President Hinckley came up with the idea for the small temples. He said they would serve area where membership was small - and likely to stay that way - and that describes the Mexico colonies perfectly. The Church sent families and missionaries to northern Mexico in 1885 to find a place for a settlement, eventually 8 colonies were established and these pioneers worked very hard to make the desert blossom as a rose. After a revolution in Mexico, only 2 colonies survived, but they are building strong testimonies there. A disproportionate number of General Authorities come from the colonies, it must be a very special, faithful place to live.Announcement: 4 October 1997Groundbreaking and Site Dedication: 7 March 1998 by Eran A. The Monticello Utah temple is the first of a new generation, President Hinckley announced in October 1997 the plan to flood the earth with small temples that could be built quickly and efficiently with all the necessary rooms and ordinances. This is a huge blessing to members living far from big cities and big temples. The Monticello temple was busy from the beginning, in the first 3 months almost 60 thousand ordinances were completed, and the temple was enlarged from 7,000 sq ft to 11,000 sq ft.

Denver Colorado Temple
Three doves circled in the sky over the Denver Colorado Temple during construction, as if a sign from heaven, blessing the efforts of those down below. One construction welder was a member who always hoped he could help in the construction of a temple - so he volunteered to help a few days a week after and in addition to his day job. One stake started a Temple Fund years before the announcement came, just so they were ready when it did. Join us to hear these and many other amazing stories about the Denver Colorado Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Kimball on April 2, 1980, and officially dedicated by President Thomas S. Monson on January 17-19, 1986. The journey to build the Lima Peru Temple was not without sacrifice. Members of the church rallied together, contributing personal possessions, from furniture to gold wedding bands, to fund the temple's construction. Seoul Korea Temple
The story of the Seoul Korea Temple is not just about a building; it’s about the people and their faith. At a time of national unrest and rebuilding the gospel of Jesus Christ came to the people of Korea. Getting the temple built was a matter of necessity, as the government would not let couples leave together to go to the Hawaii or Tokyo temples.
It sounds like a gorgeous building, inside and out. And if you watch one famous K-Drama, you might sneak a peek at it!

Johannesburg South Africa Temple
The Temple in Johannesburg is surely an answer to prayer, but it also sets up the foundation for the future of the church in Africa. As the first temple in Africa it was the most geographically remote temple for many years. And it was the furthest from Salt Lake City in the world.
We are grateful for the history of the Saints in this area, and we are more excited for the future of the church as missionary work takes off, we are sure the future holds miracles across that great continent!

Santiago Chile Temple
The Santiago Chile Temple was announced just 24 years after the Chilean mission was established. Church growth has been extremely fast and abundant in this lovely country. When the Chile Mission was organized in 1956, the country had just over 600 members. In less than two decades, there were four missions and nearly 100,000 members. By the year 2000, there were over half a million Latter-day Saints in Chile, more than 3 percent of Chile’s population. This was the highest proportion anywhere in Latin America.

Bonus Episode: Temple Predictions!
This is a special pre-General Conference episode of the Every Temple Podcast where we talk to our friend Olivia about her educated guesses for where new temples may be announced at the October 2025 General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. If you have any guesses please add them in the comments on Spotify or on our Instagram and Facebook pages!
We will meet up with Olivia after conference to review what she got right and what she thinks about the temples that are announced!

Nuku'alofa Tonga Temple
The Nuku’alofa Tonga Temple is an answer to prayer! The temple was announced in 1980, and when the people heard it, they wept. The members there were so willing to sacrifice to get to their nearest temple, they sold everything they could to travel to Hawaii or New Zealand. Since this temple opened, it has been well-used, and well-loved.

Apia Samoa Temple
The Apia Samoa temple was the 3rd temple dedicated in the Pacific Islands. It was a very busy building, always full of patrons. It was closed for renovations in 2003 and unfortunately the building suffered a devastating fire. Rebuilding efforts started immediately, and the only thing that survived the fire was the statue of the Angel Moroni, it was refurbished and used on the rebuilt temple.

The Atlanta Georgia Temple is one full of firsts! It’s hard to believe when it’s the 23rd episode, that we still have some firsts. This temple was the smaller size temple to get a Moroni statue, and after this it became the norm to have a Moroni on every temple for the next 30 years! It is also the first temple that President Gordon B Hinckley dedicated (he went on to dedicate/rededicate 89 temples!!)

Jordan River Utah Temple
The construction of the Jordan River Utah Temple and its maintenance costs for many years were funded entirely by monetary donations from local members. The temple site was likewise gifted to the Church.
The Jordan River Temple is the 4th largest temple in the church, it is also one of the busiest. The Moroni statue is a unique slightly smaller copy of the one on the Washington DC Temple.

Saints had been waiting for this for so long, that many already had temple funds set aside to help with the construction, so they knew as soon as it was announced, donations were pouring in. 3.2 million raised by members from Alaska to oregon, 11 million dollar total cost
Because the Seattle Washington Temple would be situated near the Bellevue Airfield, the proposed height of the spire was reduced, and a red strobe warning light was installed at the base of the angel Moroni statue. When the airfield closed in 1983, the light was permanently shut off and later removed.

Tokyo Japan Temple
The Tokyo Japan Temple was announced to a very grateful crowd of Japanese members at an area conference in 1975. Despite the mission being closed for 24 years in the middle of the 20th century, missionary work was very successful after the war, and membership shot up from 8,000 to 50,000 very quickly by the time the temple was dedicated.
The recent renovation (2017-2022) beautified the interior and exterior of the building with culturally relevant patterns, and materials. Two stone lanterns sit on the grounds representing guides for spirits on their way.

The Sao Paulo Brazil Temple is the first temple built in South America, President Kimball announced that there would be a temple built there at the beginning of an area conference. Washington D.C. Temple
The Washington D.C. Temple is a monument of enlightenment. That is the word revealed to the architect when he feverishly put pencil to paper and designed this beautiful building. It has remarkably beautiful white Alabama Marble all around the outside and some stunning stained glass panels that go from the ground all the way to the top of the building on the ends. The marble exterior is in some places shaved to almost half an inch, which actually allows light to filter through it and helps illuminate the interior. Betty Ford came to the open house as a special guest in 1974 and requested a photo with President Spencer W Kimball.
Janelle shared this article about a special new painting that hangs in the temple since the 2022 rededication.
