That "Crazy" Animal Rights Lawsuit is About to Change the World (with PETA's Jeff Kerr) (Ep.84)
Jeff Kerr at PETA has brought some of the wildest legal cases in animal rights history: monkey selfies, orca slavery, and more. I chatted with him about why these “crazy” cases actually have solid legal grounds–and why Jeff has immense hope for the future of animal law and animal rights.

About Jeff Kerr: As chief legal officer to PETA and other PETA entities for nearly 30 years, Jeff Kerr is the longest-tenured legal head of any animal protection organization. He built and leads the world’s largest legal team working for animal liberation, which was named Corporate Counsel magazine’s Best Legal Department in 2017—the first animal protection group and only the second nonprofit to receive that honor. Kerr is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, which recognized his public service work with the prestigious Shaping Justice Award for Extraordinary Achievement, and George Mason University, where he was a Weber scholar. His high-profile cases have made headlines around the world and sparked a global conversation about the legal rights of animals.

Was Jesus An Animal Rights Activist? (with Kam Waters) (Ep.66)

Finding Peace Amidst Atrocities (with Jamie Logan) (Ep.54)
What happens when a joyous vegan enters the disturbing halls of an industrial factory farm?
Jamie Logan is what I’d call a joyous vegan. Her activism is filled with warmth and humor, even as she speaks strongly for animal rights. I had her on the show because of a recent change in her activism: she has started going undercover into factory farms, witnessing things that are anything but joyous.
How does she manage the tension between joy and anger? How does she find peace while witnessing things that no one should witness? We discuss in the latest episode.

Traitor Sheep and the Corruption of American Politics (Ep. 50)
A recent undercover investigation exposed the use of Judas Sheep – adult sheep trained to betray lambs and lead them to slaughter. But the concept of the Judas Sheep has implications far beyond the walls of a slaughterhouse. Indeed, there are Judas Sheep – politicians corruptly acting on behalf of the powerful – leading our entire nation to self-destruction. How do we overcome the problem?

How Democracy Has Been Taken Over By “High Conflict Personalities” (with Natalie Fulton) (Ep. 49)
The Democratic Party in Denver has accused animal rights of racism for advocating against the slaughter of animals. Workers of color, they say, will be negatively affected. Natalie Fulton and I discuss how to respond to these allegations - and what this incident shows us about the “high conflict personalities” who have taken over our political system.

She was Charged for Rescuing Two Stray Cows. This is How She Won. (Ep. 42)

What happened in the next few years is so bizarre and outrageous – from police raids to hidden cows sent to slaughter – that it's hard to believe.

This Restaurant Banned Vegans. Then Sued Tash for Protesting. (with Tash Peterson) (Ep.38)
Tash Peterson was recently convicted and forbidden from leaving Western Australia after protesting a restaurant that banned vegans. She was sued for accusing a chef who posed with dead animals of “animal abuse.” And, while pretending to be a farmer, she listened as an angry stranger threatened to kill Tash Peterson – without realizing that the “farmer” he was talking to was, in fact, Tash Peterson in disguise.
But there’s one thing that’s stayed solid and stable through it all: Tash’s belief in pushing for change, even when it’s uncomfortable or even dangerous. And there are important lessons for us all in her story. Give this one a listen, and give Tash and Jack some support!
