Ep 147 | LIVE A MANA LIFE with Dr. Elizabeth Wanek
MEET ELIZABETH
Prior to studying for surgical boards around 40 years of age, I thought nutrition and basic science were something that only applied to my patients. However, as I made the connection between food and my biochemistry, I became profoundly aware that what and how I was eating had a major impact on how I functioned: emotionally mentally, physically and spiritually. When I ate according to the principles of biochemistry, I felt completely different, no longer struggling with continuous cravings, yo-yo dieting, fatigue, frustration and, at times, complete anguish and despair. This experience led from the private practice of Pediatric Surgery to a consultative practice in Functional Medicine, with a focus on teaching patients how to stabilize blood sugar and meet needs for essential nutrient by balancing protein, carbohydrate and fats calories at each meal and/or snack. In addition, I recommended a daily intake of equal amounts of Omega 3 and Omega 6 polyunsaturated fats (which human cells cannot produce) to supply the raw materials needed to construct and maintain a properly functioning cell membrane (Phospholipid bilayer in the figure below) and to supplement with the 8 simple sugars needed by the cell to construct receptor sites on the cell membrane (Glycoprotein in the figure below) which are used to call for and receive the nutrients required for proper cell function. With Functional Medicine, I went from the anatomy I could see as a surgeon to the anatomy of a cell, visible only with a microscope.

Ep 146 | DESERVE OR DESIRE? With Maria Kamau
MEET MARIA
Hi, I’m Maria Kamau. Travel coach for women 40+ who are done waiting. Travel is a desire for many. It was mine too. I was born and raised in Kenya, a place the world dreams about and I was exposed to travel early: coastal buses, overnight trains, and road trips that turned horizons into classrooms. My first time abroad came through a high-school exchange in Germany. I loved it. That one trip widened the map for the rest of my life.
Since then I’ve visited 90+ countries across 5 continents and explored all 47 counties of Kenya. Some journeys were solo, many were shared. each one taught me something about courage, curiosity, and the quiet joy of being on my own timeline.
I grew up in Kenya with a passport full of dreams and a calendar full of responsibilities. The “right time” never arrived, so I stopped waiting. Over the next three decades, I explored 90+ countries, learned how to plan calmly and safely, and proved to myself that travel can be both soul-filling and affordable.
Along the way, I noticed something: we don’t travel for hotels or hashtags. We travel to feel different, braver, lighter, connected, and joyful. That’s why I became an ICF-certified coach and created TravelwithMkay—a supportive place where midlife women get the clarity, structure, and confidence to say, “I’m going."
Why I coach: Fear isn’t required—trust the plan. Safety and comfort can sit beside spontaneity. Smart trade-offs beat big budgets every time. The best trips are the ones you actually take.
How I help: We get clear on what you want from this trip, then build a simple, realistic plan around your destination, timing, budget, and safety, plus a light-packing approach that keeps you free to enjoy it. You stay in control; I’m your guide, sounding board, and cheer section from idea to touchdown.
If you’re ready to swap “one day” for “I’m going,” I’m here for you—gently, practically, and on your terms.

Ep 145 | THE SHE SOCIETY With Kathleen Hutchens
MEET KATHLEEN
I believe every woman should embrace their FIRE: Find your presence. Ignite the moment. Release what was. Embrace what is. Finding your presence is the key to life.
Hi there. I'm Kathleen. I'm so glad you're here! I graduated with a dual honors degree in Environmental Studies & Geography from UC Santa Barbara—not an obvious springboard for launching a women's community platform, I know! But I've always felt drawn to creating something meaningful, something…bigger.
I've spent my life trying to understand ecosystems—literal environments, basketball teams, classrooms I've volunteered in. But the biggest ecosystem I've come to understand? The one where women actually feel like they belong.
I've struggled with where I fit in and realized so many of us are searching for a space that just… doesn't exist yet. This platform was created because I finally stopped waiting for someone else to build it. Welcome to The She Society.

Ep 142 | THE SERENDIPITOUS REBELS with Krystal Eicher and Wendy Guth
MEET WENDY GUTH & KRYSTAL EICHER
We didn’t start as business coaches. We started as travel advisors, running successful digital brands—until the disruptions in 2020 forced us to ask the hard questions:
Am I fulfilled by what I’m doing? Do I feel rooted in purpose? Is this the life I really want—or just the one I’ve built by default?
Our honest answer was "no." And we knew we weren’t alone. That moment of disruption became our catalyst. We didn’t just pivot—we went deeper. We closed down what no longer fit, invested in ourselves, and realigned with what actually mattered.
Wendy became a Certified Business Coach. Krystal became a Certified Master Marketer. And together, we’ve built Serendipitous Rebel to help other entrepreneurs do what we had to do ourselves:
Unlearn the hustle. Reclaim your purpose. Build a business—and a life—you actually want to be in.
Through our SAVOUR framework and our signature mastermind, we now guide women through transformational business recalibrations that honor their rhythms, amplify their voice, and help them lead with soul and strategy.
This isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing the right things—on your own terms. And we’re here to help you Savour™ every step of the way.

Ep 141 | JOURNEYS TO HEAL with Kristine Ovsepian
MEET KRISTINE
Growing up I always felt I was different. At an early age, I heard the call to be of service to humanity. For decades, I tried to avoid the messages coming from the Universe to follow my true path, because I wanted to “fit in” to the norm of what society required of me. By 2009 I was deeply depressed, felt empty inside, I was lost, and unsatisfied with my life. When my doctor warned me that I would not survive more than 2 years, if I continued on that path, I knew I had to make drastic changes in my life. My struggle and suffering was caused by the career I had chosen ten years prior.
So I took the first steps to take my power back. I left my accounting career behind and surrendered to return to my true self and pursue my divinely guided purpose in this life. My mission was to become a clear channel for the Universe and Source, thereby enabling me to be of service to others.
Spending time in nature praying and meditating guided me to where I am today. Through a vivid dream, I remembered who I was. Within months I began my journey of permanent positive change and that decision guided me towards hypnotherapy, spirituality, and my intuitive gifts.
That was the beginning of my transition into becoming an intuitive healer, certified hypnotherapist, life coach, and author, bringing Universal Wisdom, love, light, and healing to all who seek my services.
Since then, I have been helping my clients overcome stress, anxiety, and other mental and emotional blocks that are caused by fears, and limiting beliefs. Through my gifts of intuitive healing, combined with extensive training in psychology, hypnotherapy, NLP, EFT, and life coaching I empower my clients to achieve their goals and dreams and experience inner peace and happiness in the areas of love, health, career/path/purpose.

Ep 138 | I KNOW THE PATH with Maurine Xavier
MEET MAURINE
My business was born out of a commitment to follow my joy, to be happy, and support others to be & become free. I have spent eons preparing to support others evolve. I grew up in an alcoholic family where there was a lot of swearing, fighting and drinking. In childhood, I struggled with anxiety, depression and obsessive compulsive behaviors. That led to me having several addictions, including having to be right (in order to avoid being wrong), perfectionism, eating disorders, workaholism and binge drinking.
I started drinking in grade school to ease my Catholic School nerves and developed bulimia in my early teens. My inner child was screaming for a place to be seen, heard and loved exactly as I was, and I was numbing myself to that being out of reach. I became a perfectionist and a workaholic as a way to prove to myself and others that I was worthy of love and affection. What I have learned is that no amount of doing, drinking or obsessing over getting things right could ever connect to me what I truly wanted.
I went into accounting and had a very successful professional career, as a CPA, Division Controller for Esprit and Home Loan professional. Life on the outside looked great, while on the inside, I was a ticking time bomb, trying to stay ahead of not being enough. At 45 and after a decade in therapy, I chose to follow my heart and leap out of accounting and into network marketing, where I hoped to help people live their best lives. I pledged my life to helping people become physically, financially and emotionally free. I began attracting a new set of teachers and teachings. I connected to my primary Spirit guides and learned to channel my own and others energy and healing powers.
Life took on new meaning. It wasn’t just about me any more. It was about consciousness that was beyond the mind, and I knew it was time to pay forward lifetimes of wisdom. I chose to start saying “YES,” to my soul and stop giving the driver seat over to my ego. Now I’m the one steering the boat.

Ep 136 | PURPOSEFUL IN HINDSIGHT with Deb Hansen
MEET DEB
“Crossing borders has been a recurring theme of my life.” Deb describes herself as a life-long border-crosser when it comes to culture, language, religion, ethnicity, and worldview. From the physical borders of US/Mexico or Palestine/Israel, to the spiritual “borders” of different religious traditions, to the lines we create in the sand with our personal biases, ingrained racism, or personal traumatic experiences, Deb has a long history of bridging the gap between people and creating connections based in compassion and peace. She’s endlessly fascinated by the process of transformation that allows life to renew itself.
In private practice, Deb offers soul work and continues to explore the field of collective trauma healing. Having been part of a multi-faith delegation to Palestine – Israel in the fall of 2024, she is increasingly drawn to the work of peace, relationship, repair, and reconciliation.
Deb Hansen is a first-time author. Borderlands: Stories from an El Paso Shelter is a memoir of her first three winters volunteering at the U.S./Mexico border. Ep 135 | OVERCOMING BETRAYAL with Mr. Jay
MEET MR. JAY
Have you ever felt lost, confused, unlovable, out-of-touch, angry, or on the verge of losing it all or yourself? Changing all this is as simple as picking up your phone.
It is said that the definition of insanity is doing something repeatedly the same way but expecting a different outcome. Is there an area in life you are unhappy with? Are there things in your life that you know you want and need to change but not sure where to start? Are you struggling in your relationship(s), your marriage, or single life?
Lord knows I’ve been there. All my life I saw all my friends thrive while I struggled every day just to survive. I was the product of divorce, raised in poverty (on some pretty rough streets) and thrown into special-ed for a minor speech impediment. At fourteen I moved out on my own and after years of therapy, tapping into my faith, self-examination, endless podcasts, books, hard work and determination found the true me and gained a whole new perspective on life.
I can help you do the same without all the pain. I decided to become a Relationship Coach because after learning how to love myself, be my biggest advocate and celebrate the ALL of who I am, I realized I was my first client. After all the relationship you have with yourself sets the tone for every relationship around you. I am one stubborn stallion so if I can be a success with myself, I can surely help you on your journey to success. I will help you learn how to love yourself, to be your chief advocate in life, be your biggest cheerleader, and forgive yourself of shame, blame, regret, and all that is toxic and holding you back. I can meet you where you are and gently help get you where you want to be. I will help you commit to yourself to find yourself.
I am very much a family man. When I am not coaching or public speaking, I love spending time with my family. I have a nine-year-old son and four-year-old daughter and they are my world. I love spending time with extended family. When I have time, I enjoy taking the family to our local zoo and – just between you and I - my guilty pleasures are watching Investigation Discovery and Animal Planet.

She worked tirelessly on her final project titled “Restoring the Night” when she became determined to uncover how we can use artificial light to extend the benefits of restorative landscapes and healing spaces. She became fascinated with the healing capabilities of our environment and the components of Feng Shui. As a landscape architect, working behind a desk, she deeply missed interacting with people. She transitioned into lighting sales, where she spent time working with architects, interior designers, and engineers on finding optimal lighting for their spaces. She still missed the personal aspect of talking to people about their troubles, aspirations, and helping them become their best selves, living their dream life in their ideal environment. Ep 123 | GREEN AND GROWING with Jeanette Lowry
MEET JEANETTE
I remember the euphoria I experienced doing handstands and cartwheels in my first after-school gymnastics class. I knew gymnastics would be a big part of my life immediately. That freedom of expression I found became an inseparable part of who I am today.
My dad worked a lot while my mom stayed home to raise six kids. Since my older brother was born with a mental disability, I became ‘mommy’s helper’. As my dad’s insurance business grew, we started to enjoy weekends water skiing, camping, and snowmobiling with the new toys his expanding business afforded us.
His self-employed lifestyle and ‘residual income’, the new money term I became familiar with, was planted in my mind. A teenager at that time, the thought of working for someone else, confined to the corporate structure in an office every day, wasn’t appealing. I had already planted that seed of entrepreneurship; I just didn’t know what that would look like.
In 1983, I finished my gymnastics career, graduating from the University of Oregon with a Journalism degree. Within months, I married my college sweetheart and followed him to Detroit, MI, where he played professional football for the next seven years.
As a “football wife,” I kept busy with charity work and side interests. Upon moving back to Oregon, I kept busy as a stay-at-home mom with a two-year-old son Bryan and daily outings teaching fitness classes at local clubs.
My life changed forever when I got a call from a girlfriend who was excited about a new skincare line and wanted me to try it. I had never heard of this brand. She told me it wasn’t available on a retail shelf, only from friends sharing with friends.
My skin changed as soon as I tried it, and people noticed. Getting impressive results with the casual sharing of something fueled my introduction to network marketing.
That year was a blur with moving into a new house, motherhood, fitness classes, and the new business that was paying me more like a hobby… $100s a month in the beginning. It wasn’t until I received a check for over $5000 a month that I considered it a real business. It was the newest avenue for that freedom of expression I cherished. This was only the beginning.

After being let down by the mental health system herself, colleagues in her community making inappropriate statements about people living with DID (even though they didn't know she had it) she decided enough was enough and her soul was no longer living in alignment with western medicine. Ep 112 | TAME THE INNER CRITIC with Leslie Fiorenzo
MEET LESLIE
Early in my career I belonged to a businesswomen’s group, and they held a speaking contest. First prize was $100. I entered, I prepared and was disappointed when I didn’t win first prize, I didn’t even place in the top 5! A mentor of mine who was in the audience, gave me the following feedback: “You had a death grip on the podium, did you think it was going to run away? You stumbled over your words and the two stories you told didn’t connect to the topic.” I was devastated. It was all I could do to not cry on the way home in a car full of other women. But I was determined to conquer my fears, create stories that make an impact and craft a presentation that would wow the audience. Fast forward 10 years and my then employer sent me to present our safety program at an industry conference. This time the prize was based on the impact of the program not the presentation, yet when people approached me afterward and gave me compliments on my delivery and the stories I shared; I knew I’d moved well beyond that timid young woman losing a speech contest years before.

Ep 109 | IT'S HAPPENING *FOR* YOU with Xenia Brandstetter
MEET XENIA
Hi, I’m Xenia! I went from high-achieving, thriving at my job, and living my best life to feeling like a complete failure in a matter of months. I was constantly tired and in pain, unable to think straight, work, or simply lead a normal life. I couldn’t keep up with my life anymore and felt like my bright vision for the future had popped like a bubble.
Before my diagnosis, I assumed I was simply burnt out, but after countless hospital visits, blood draws, and tests I realized that all my symptoms were caused by something much bigger: my immune system was attacking my digestive system, leaving me with autoimmune hepatitis and Crohn’s disease. I wasn’t prepared to just accept that my life had forever changed. I was determined to do something about it.
It took me years of trial and error to find out what worked and helped me get my life back. I spent a fortune on doctors' consultations, endless hours on research and reading, and wasted years trying different diets. Much of what I discovered was so rigid and defined that it didn’t meet my needs.I took the learning and created a step-by-step plan for me, catering to my own unique requirements.
The hardest part was doing it all on my own.
My initial goal was to get my old life back, but I ended up gaining so much more. My diagnosis improved my life by teaching me where my true values lie & how to act on them, and I have been living symptom-free ever since. Now I help people like you take back control over your life and finally start feeling like yourself again so you don’t have to do it alone. Together, we will create a solution specifically for you.

MEET LISA
I have been a student of fashion for the majority of my life. Thanks to Italian designer Gianni Versace I fell in love with fashion at age 10 and I have never looked back. I adore contemporary fashion but I have a great respect for fashion's past and how continually relevant it is. In the current fashion landscape where 'Fast Fashion' and even faster tends reign supreme I opted to take a slower and more eco-friendly approach to personal and professional styling.I specialize in re-styling Fashion's past in a current way. Re-wearing or giving a new life to a Vintage piece of clothing or an accessory is a sustainable way to express your individual style story. Great style to me isn't always about consumption, it is about authenticity and creativity. I have assisted countless women though EVOLUTION VINTAGE connect with their authentic selves though personal style. I am currently curating the 55,000 Dress Collection and finding a home for this incredible compilation of Fashion's Past.We can all easily grab something off the rack, follow 'the herd' and duplicate trends but I always favor careful curation of an individual looks and collective wardrobe for myself and my clients.Personal style extends beyond your wardrobe into your home, your events and your life in general. Are you telling your authentic style story?
