The Empress Unfiltered
By Erica Martinez DNP, FNP-BC
We’re talking med spa life, business wins, financial stress, wellness, ADHD chaos, relationships, reinvention, and the lessons nobody tells you before you chase your dream.
This is basically building the airplane while flying it — messy, honest, chaotic, and somehow still rising.
Welcome to The Empress Unfiltered.

I'm 33 Years Old… and Apparently Still a Teenager
Yes, it's been a minute. And no, you're not looking at my face. The Empress Unfiltered is audio only now, and you're getting a better version of me this way.
I'm 33, a board-certified nurse practitioner with a doctorate, I have kids, bills, and a med spa, and I still regularly think "I need an adult." This episode: why nobody ever feels like a grown-up, the email I avoided for three weeks, and why I'd like a representative from the universe's customer service department. We heal. We pivot. We talk shit about it later.

You Can't Inject Your Way into Wholeness
I can smooth the line on your forehead. I can't smooth the thing that put it there. In this episode, I'm saying the quiet part loud about the industry I love: the outside was never the problem. I'm sharing the year I tried to bury everything, the divorce I hid behind full glam, the financial mistakes I was too ashamed to look at, the grief of losing my dad and how burying it leaked into my business and my treatment room anyway. This is what inner healing actually looks like: nervous system work, honest numbers, real conversations, and learning to carry what you can't get over. If you've been trying to fix on the outside what actually lives on the inside this one's for you.

Who Do You Think You Are? — Imposter Syndrome
They're not handing me a spreadsheet. They're handing me their face. That's why "who do you think you are?" hits different in this industry and why it never shows up on your worst day. It waits until right after you finish a beautiful treatment such as facial balancing.
In this episode I'm getting unfiltered about imposter syndrome and why it gets louder the higher you climb, the credential treadmill, and why false humility is just fear with better marketing. Plus the three things to do when the voice gets loud, because this isn't The Empress Just Vibes.
You're not an imposter. You're just in the middle of becoming.

The Loneliness Nobody Warns You About | The Empress Unfiltered Ep. 3
They tell you to follow your passion. They leave out the part where you might be following it by yourself for a while.
This is the episode I almost didn't share. I'm getting honest about the loneliness of building; the kind that shows up when the brand is growing but the group chat's gone quiet. When people support the business and forget the woman who runs it.
This one's about boundaries, the grief of outgrowing people you love, and learning to stand fully in who you are even when the room is empty.

Getting Comfortable With Uncertainty: The Reality of Business Ownership
In this episode, I’m getting real about one of the hardest parts of entrepreneurship: learning how to be comfortable with uncertainty.
After talking about the difference between being 9-5 broke and business broke, I wanted to go deeper into what it actually feels like to build a business when every day looks different. Some days you can make $6,000 in two hours. Other days, you might make $111 and start questioning everything.
I talk about the emotional rollercoaster of business ownership, unpredictable income, slow days, self-doubt, fear, resilience, and what it takes to keep showing up when nothing feels guaranteed.
This episode is for the business owner, the dreamer, the provider, the woman starting over, or anyone learning how to trust themselves in the unknown.
Because uncertainty doesn’t always mean you’re failing. Sometimes it means you’re growing.

Building the Airplane While Flying It
Welcome to The Empress Unfiltered — the real, behind-the-scenes story of building a med spa, a brand, and myself at the same time. In this first episode, I talk about the chaos, burnout, resilience, financial stress, ADHD-fueled ideas, lessons, mistakes, and growth that came with launching The Empress LA Aesthetics & Wellness from the ground up. This is entrepreneurship without the filter.
