Life Skills Circle
Instead of police brought in to settle school disciplinary problems, a life skills circle can be a good alternative. The student charged with a violation of school policy would appear before a a circle of students, lead by the life skills counselor. Parents, school staff, the police, school board members would be invited as guests to observe the circle preside and hear out the student and witnesses. Stream it live online. The circle would produce and submit a report, that includes their assessment of the violation and their recommendation.
