#223: Assignment - Baltimore Comic Con
A quick stop at a very cool and Comic centric comic con. Baltimore Comic Con brings out plenty of artists, vendors, makers, Indi creators, autograph seekers and, more importantly the COMICS. I had a chance to take a day trip up to the Baltimore Convention Center and hang a bit with Artist Michael Munshaw, Meanwhile ATP host George Hanna and his wife Connie and Eric from Longbox Review. I would saw if you like comics, this is a show to attend! This is a shorter show but I think you get a good flavor of this trip.

#222: Making the toys that never were. Lee Gregory of Paleetoy
Lee Gregory, like many of us, loves our Star Wars figures and would love nothing more than to break them out from time to time and recreate our favorite scenes. Regardless of what side of the Atlantic you call home, you know that Kenner and Palitoy only had the means and time to create a certain number of playsets during that time.
So Lee has gone to work, creating new playsets, using some very similar techniques and design constraints and has produced a number of very amazing and authentic looking settings, from the plastic bases, to cardboard backings and boxes that any collector would love to have as part of their collection.
Lee has been on my bucket list to talk to and it was a great conversation about the toys that never were, but now can be, as well as a little football talk. If you haven’t seen the instagram channel, website, or playsets in person, it’s high time to get your figs out as you listen to this episode of the Rebel Base Card Podcast.

#216: On the Road
As we are on the road to the National this month, I was literally on the road this weekend, doing a college tour with my youngest. It just so happened that we were in the neighborhood of one Mr. Tom Gross of the Teachers in the Dungeon & CWK Pour over and Coffee with Kenobi.
A lot of news in the hobby recently including the Upper Deck Michael Jordon deal, some new wax being sold without shrink wrap, and an update on the Panini Sticker hunt.
Tom Talks more about convention best practices, the new 9th Jedi animated series, his recent D & D Summer Camp and what he’s looking most forward to seeing in the coming months.
Fun show recorded on the road! Hope you enjoy.

#214: Sticker Shock
The World Cup is in full swing, so this show dives into the realm of chasing the Panini WC stickers and other tie-in-merch while in the throws of this tournament which has captured much attention, and in Boston’s case, run the city dry of decent beer.
George Hanna from Meanwhile at the Podcast returns to the show and commiserates over sticker hunting and having to drink more Coke Zero than is humanly necessary.

Collector and creator David Dickson, returns to talk about the basics of Star Wars card collecting and what to make of the changes over the past several years. #212 Joliet Star Wars Day 2026
Show Notes for Ep: #212: Joliet Star Wars Day
The first Saturday in June turns the city of Joliet into a Galaxy far, far away as Star Wars Day returns, organized by the Joliet Public Library in partnership with the Joliet Museum, and the city of Joliet. Scores of volunteers help make this a terrific event for the whole family. The event kicks off with a parade of some of the best cosplay you’ll see in one place down Chicago street that turns at Clinton and ends up in front of the library, where an annual group photo is taken. Afterwards, both the library and Museum host authors, artists, makers, vendors and groups that certainly fill up the 11-3 time quite well. Outside on the streets, some of which are closed off, even more things to do, explore and eat under the Star Wars theme.
This year JSDW returned to the library, as construction on the streets had finished. Last year saw it temporarily moved to Slammer’s Stadium a few blocks away.
Also greeting visitors was a brand new City Square across from the library and the famous Rialto Theater which gives the whole downtown a wonderful place to gather and hold outdoor programs.
This episode we run with some of the Red 5 Podcast network and talk to some of the artists, attendees and groups.

Breakfast Pack #116: Boston Mandalorian review
A special in-person episode of The Breakfast Pack, recorded in person in downtown Boston. Greg Cass, Ben Brophy and I met up in a cold and rainy day in downton Beantown and recorded our thoughts at the Green Dragon Tavern and later inside AMC in Boston.
In part one, we pick up where we left off last episode, talking about expectations and what we were looking for in subsequent viewings and part two was after Greg and I watched the movie together at the AMC right next to the TD Garden in downtown Boston. We end the show with our review and Pringles can rating.

#211: Now in theaters
Well Mando is in theaters over this Memorial Day weekend, and people are with tickets and swag in had are hitting theaters across the globe. While some have not yet seen it, instead of drilling right into spoilerly or non-spoiler reviews, I wanted to dig into some nuts and bolts on the experience and what some did when they got there.
With me on the program again is Daz Davies who saw Mando in Wales twice already, as well as Ro Gazga and Brad Tracy of the Scarif Scuttlebutt Podcast who met up for some pizza after they did a weekend YouTube live stream talking about the film with each other and their audience.
Full review shows are ahead on the Breakfast Pack, but it IS a holiday weekend, so let’s keep things light and easy as we relax and enjoy STAR WARS back in theaters…before we head back into work.

#210: Brandon Wainerdi
Brandon Wainerdi returns to the show to talk about The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie, including his visit to the media event, and his run on Star Wars Insider as it winds down, and we catch up on his growing writing career.
To say it was great to catch up with Brandon is a bit of an understatement. As we are eagerly waiting for Mando to hit the screens, we can once again reflect a moment on Star Wars Insider and it’s legacy, and just what it means when our community gets opportunity to hang out and have fun. I hope you enjoy this conversation.

From Paris to Chicago, it’s been a crazy week. I find myself at one of the largest cons in the Midwest on its busiest days! This episode takes you to the heart of Hall 2A at C2/E2, even though we started in parking lot B.
Even with some jet lag and a more subdued schedule I still managed to run into some old friends and make a couple new ones. One the program:
Returning guests:
Victor from @Fandads

Sketch artist Stephane Leonardi returns to the program to talk about his work on the set and coming back to Chicago later this year for the National.
We also change gears, and multiple time zones, and invite back friend of the show Anthony King from Force Ghost Conversations to talk about the recent release of the full Maul Shadow Lord Trailer.

It typically features many sports and entertainment autograph opportunities plus fields a health vendor area for card and sports collectible seekers, plus of late, more places to submit cards and autos for authentication and grading. At the show I got to catch up with with some old friends and vendors to gauge the hobby and show: Andrew ‘Augie’ Augustine - A teacher who has been on the show before and sells an eclectic range of collectibles as a side gig. #203: Star Wars Podcast Day 2026
STAR WARS PODCAST DAY 2026, an unofficial celebration of the Star Wars fan audio community. Every year this event brings together approximately 100 shows, sharing their love of fan made audio with other Star Wars fans, as well as the wider podcast listening audience. Think of it as our own little version of May the Fourth.
Why on February 7th? That was the day Jedi Talk, the very first Star Wars podcast premiered way back in 1999.
So in tonight’s show, the format is a little different, and iI welcome Das Davies back to the program.

#201: Tom Gross- Into the Storyverse
Tom Gross, is the Co-Host of the Teachers in the Dungeon as well as the CWK Pour-Over podcast, but by day he is the Librarian of Washington Community HS, in Washington Illinois and the driving force behind the S.T.E.A.M. events that are held there. Powered by an army of student volunteers, they are coming up on the 10th iteration of this event which promotes Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Reading, and Math, all wrapped in a genre theme. Whereas in the past it has been STAR WARS, it has opened up to others including Marvel, Harry Potter, Fantasy & Gaming and a lot more.
Tom returns back to the program to talk about S.T.E.A.M. into the STORYVERSE, which takes place on Saturday, January 10th. Yours truly will once again support the event by doing a podcast live on site and canvasing the area for interviews, but it is always great to sit down with Tom before the day begins.
My thanks to Tom, Dan, and all the folks at WCHS for inviting me down to the event again.

#200: A Journey of Cards, Collecting and Community
Hard to believe we’ve gotten to episode 200 of the main Rebel Base Card show but, since March of 2019 it’s been quite a ride. 310 shows in total, between, the Breakfast Pack, Second Breakfast and the main show.
Since this falls at the end of the year, I thought I’d try something a little different. Throughout this year I have collected some audio that either didn’t make its own episode or was trimmed from another. But it makes for a nice recap of some of the big events of 2025:
C2E2, Star Wars Celebration Japan, the ROTS 20th anniversary, Joliet Star Wars Day London Film and Comic Con and more!
So I have several guests on for this 200th episode:
Artist: Daniel Govar danielgovar.bigcartel.com
Fantha Tracks contributor Ross Hollebon @popstarindy - @fanthatracks
My Breakfast Pack Co-host Gregory Cass from @eyeoncanon Revenge of the Sith for its 20th anniversary.
Todd Hoffman of WSTR & Big T & lil’ T @tizzzzod
Artist Karl Jones @bumcheeks2

#194: 2025 Chicago Non-Sport Card Show
Held in the western Chicago Suburb of Carol Stream, Illinois the Chicago Non-Sport Card Show has been a bastion of card goodness for many years now. Over the two day event, attendees could browse several tables of non-sport cards and collectibles. Vendors return year after year to catch up with old friends and to delight attendees. Typically held twice annually, the fall show was held on October 17th and 18th. We talk with vendors Jason Beyer, returning guests Bill Hjelmgren from Lookey Here and Paul Maiellaro, former show runner and board member of Treasurechest.org - a charity he helps support during the show.

‘At the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation, we believe every child fighting cancer deserves a moment of joy. It all started in 1993, when founder Colleen Kisel saw the comfort a small toy brought her son, Martin, during his cancer treatment. That simple gift sparked a big idea: bring smiles and comfort to kids facing the toughest battles. Today, Treasure Chest Programs have been established in 69 pediatric cancer centers across the country — with many still actively serving young patients. After a difficult procedure, each child gets to choose a toy, gift, or gift card — a small reward for their strength and bravery.’

#193: 2025 Ocala Comic Con
Held at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala Florida over the weekend of September 20th to the 21st, I joined Aaron Harris & David Modders from the Star Wars Reactions podcast as well as Mary & Chazz Perdue, members of the CWK Alliance & Facebook Group for some of the great panels, and hit the show floor, which was full of vendors, artists, makers, displays and awesome cosplay from the 501st, Rebel Legion, Droid Makers and Mandalorian Mercs.
This convention had a number of Star Wars guests, including Emily Swallow, Katee Sackhoff, Manny Jacinto as well as a Rebels Voice actor reunion panel with Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, & Taylor Gray and Nika Futterman, the voice of Asajj Ventress.

#191 Fan Expo Chicago 2025
FAX EXPO Chicago returns to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois, just a few weeks after the National Sports Collectors Convention wrapped:
This show played host to many big name celebrities, panels, and catered to fans across many genres. I was able to talk with some old friends and make some new acquaintances. In Artist Alley, Nick and Candace Poblador from CN Factory were showing off the very latest screen prints that display a mash-up of Chicago elements and pop culture. I was also able to talk with Camron Johnson and Joe Corroney, and John Dizon. While over at the STAR WARS cosplay group’s area, Gemma Billings of the 501st Midwest Garrison talked about the Boba Fett display and the mission of the groups.

#190: The National 2025 Recap
The 2025 National Sports Collectors Convention drew even larger crowds during its 5 day run at the Donald E. Stevens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois from July 30th to August 3rd. All kinds of cards and collectibles were up for sale or purchase. Card shops, card manufacturers, breakers, graders, sports figures, and content creators convened on the show floor and to help me recap all this action I was able to enlist some help:
