Dr. Daniel J. Thomas III is an assistant professor of Urban Education  in the Department of Teaching Learning & Culture at Texas A&M University. Dr. Thomas' research focuses on the historical and contemporary experiences of Black male teachers and Black boys as well as the teaching of Black history in social studies courses.  Dr. Thomas is the author of 16 scholarly publications that have been featured in leading academic outlets including: Teachers College Record, International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education, Peabody Journal of Education, Race, Ethnicity & Education,  Urban Education, Theory and Research in Social Education, The Social Studies, and Sport, Education, and Society. At the University of Texas, Dr. Thomas won both the 3-Minute Thesis competition as well as the university's distinguished 'Outstanding Dissertation Award'. His most recent work on "(Re)imagining Self-Determination" has been awarded a $30,000 grant. He was also awarded prestigious $50,000 grant from the Spencer Foundation.

Prior to the completion of his doctoral studies, Dr. Thomas taught secondary social studies in the Baltimore-Washington region where he simultaneously coached and mentored youth through a non-profit organization ran by a network of Black male teacher-coaches called Next Level Nation. He served alongside New Orleans Saints football coach, Cory Robinson, and the first African American Governor of Maryland, Wes Moore. During his stint working in college athletics at UC Berkeley, Thomas spearheaded the creation of the Black Student-Athlete Committee (BSAC). Dara McKinley is a spiritual teacher and psychology expert who discovered the transformative power of forgiveness through her own unexpected crisis.

In 2012, with two decades of psychology and spirituality behind her, Dara McKinley faced a difficult situation that none of her previous knowledge could improve. Feeling called to try forgiveness, she searched online for a forgiveness ‘how-to’ and quickly discovered that there was so much about why one should forgive, but nothing about how. 

Needing directions to follow, she decided to make her own forgiveness step-by-step, which upon completion, left her feeling peaceful for the first time in three years. Impressed by forgiveness’ effectiveness she quickly became a devotee. 

Over the coming years, her experience with forgiveness would deepen and so would her awareness of popular forgiveness understanding. Specifically she saw that most people had something they wanted to forgive but they didn’t know how. She also saw that mainstream forgiveness definitions were actually obscuring the forgiveness path. Seeing the need for a logical and straightforward forgiveness paradigm, Dara created How to Forgive.

Mayra Bullock (Houston, TX) began her dance training in the Houston Independent

School District and continued her education at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), and later at the University of St. Thomas. While at UTEP, she served as Artistic Director of the Victory Warriors Drill & Dance Academy before returning to Houston in 2006 to serve as Assistant Director of the Fort Bend Academy of Arts and Dance.

Mayra made her professional Houston dance debut in 2008 with Urban Souls Dance Company in Across the Waters, a work examining the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. She became USDC’s Rehearsal Director in 2019 and Managing Director in 2025.

Mayra currently serves on the board of directors for the Edison Arts Foundation and holds a B.F.A. in Dance Performance and an M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction.
