We’ve made it our mission to help creators worldwide get discovered, connect with fans, and keep doing what they love — which is why we launched the Spotify Partner Program one year ago today.
To celebrate its first anniversary, we’re announcing major updates to supercharge creator success. Starting today, we're opening the Spotify Partner Program to more creators than ever. And coming soon, creators will have new ways to easily manage their sponsorships, and publish and monetize video on Spotify — even if hosted on another platform.
Whether you’re a rising video creator, a publisher managing a portfolio of shows, or an established storyteller, these updates make it easier than ever to grow on your own terms with Spotify.
1. The Spotify Partner Program is now open to more creators than ever
When we launched the Spotify Partner Program, our goal was simple: help creators make a living through podcasts. One year later, creators are seeing real momentum in their earnings through a combination of Premium video revenue and ad revenue — all while delivering Spotify Premium subscribers with a seamless, premium video experience.1
Now we’re opening up the program to even more creators.
What’s changing
We're broadening eligibility for the Spotify Partner Program in markets where it's currently available — so creators gaining traction can start earning even earlier.
Creators2 will now be eligible to apply when they reach:
- 1K Spotify audience members over the last 30 days3
- 2K Spotify hours consumed over the last 30 days
- 3 published episodes (all time)
Check if you’re eligible to apply by visiting the Monetize tab on Spotify for Creators.

2. More flexible sponsorship management for video
Sponsorships are a powerful way for shows to earn revenue with video — but it can be labor-intensive to re-edit episodes to change outdated messaging and keep sponsorships fresh over time.
That’s changing in April, when we begin rolling out a suite of new sponsorship tools across Spotify for Creators and Megaphone.
What’s changing
Creators enrolled in the Spotify Partner Program will be able to:
- Easily remove, replace, or add creator sponsorships in video episodes for more timely messages.
- Schedule updates in advance — whether editing creator sponsorships, inserting new slots, or refreshing outdated information.
- Clearly monitor how each sponsorship performed over time with new delivery metrics that can be shared back with brand sponsors.
Combined with our full suite of tools empowering creators and publishers to manage earnings across revenue streams, these sponsorship updates provide another layer of customization and control.

3. Your hosting platform — now with Spotify video publishing and monetization
One of our driving principles has been to give creators as much flexibility as possible to create, distribute and monetize their content. Many creators work across multiple platforms, tools, and workflows — they should all have access to the power of video on Spotify without having to migrate their entire operation to host with us.
Introducing the new Spotify Distribution API
Soon, creators and publishers will be able to publish and monetize video content on Spotify from participating hosting platforms. This will be done directly through their existing workflow — no switching or re-uploading.
Acast, Audioboom, Libsyn, Omny, and Podigee are onboard as launch partners and we plan to expand to more platforms. We’re thrilled to add this level of creator choice to Spotify.

Here’s what this unlocks4:
- Publish video to Spotify and participate in the Spotify Partner Program without having to switch hosting platforms.
- Opportunity to earn Premium video revenue as Spotify Premium subscribers in select markets enjoy video content on Spotify, uninterrupted by ads5.
- Opportunity to earn ad revenue when fans in select markets listen to or watch shows on the free version of Spotify, or in markets not eligible for Premium video revenue.
- Tap into our new and flexible sponsorship management capabilities without having to switch hosting platforms.
Look out for more information on availability from your hosting platform.
This is more than a new set of upgrades: it’s a step toward the future of podcasting on Spotify, built around flexibility and creator choice. From the Spotify Partner Program, to creator sponsorships, and the flexibility to earn while hosted on other platforms, creators have more paths than ever to make a living by doing what they love — and we’re so excited to be a part of the journey.
