With every new episode, we automatically generate:

• Transcripts: Text versions of your episodes that make your content easier to follow and help Spotify understand what your show is about. That deeper understanding powers features that boost discoverability, because we are able to get your episode in front of the right people at the right time.
  
  
• Chapters: If you haven’t already provided chapters, we automatically break your episode into shorter, more digestible segments. These chapters can be recommended on Spotify surfaces, helping audiences jump into the parts of your episode that best match their interests.
  
  
• Guests and Topics: Based on your episode description, we’ll highlight any mentioned guests and relevant topics right on the Episode page to make it easier for listeners to find more content featuring them (and to find your episode from others!). 

These features don’t just make your podcast easier to browse — they create more opportunities for new audiences to find you, start tuning in, and become fans.

You’re in control

While we automatically generate these tools to make things easier, you’re always in the driver’s seat. You can:

• Edit auto-generated chapter labels or timestamps for accuracy or clarity
  
  
• Upload your own transcripts or provide your own chapters if you prefer
  
  
• Hide or reorder guest and topic tags
  
  
• Opt out of these features for a specific episode or your entire catalog. However, we recommend opting into as many as possible to maximize your discoverability on Spotify.

Head to any Episode details page or your podcast settings (the gear icon) to view or update your settings at any time.

Here’s how to make the most of these features:

1. Check the details for any published episode in Spotify for Creators to see the transcripts, chapters, guests, and topics we’ve generated.
   
   
2. Make any edits needed. Pay particular attention to chapter labels and timestamps. Chapter titles should be concise and segmented into distinct topics so that your audience can easily navigate to a particular segment of your episode.
   
   
3. Turn on transcripts if they’re turned off. They’re the engine that powers other discovery tools like chapters and guest and topic tags.
