Some of my big head still exists. The Modern Absurdist is a collection of short stories focusing on our desire to find purpose in our lives, even when there is none. It grasps at the concept that wisdom is knowing that we can not always explain the unexplainable. Traditional absurdist literature was written 100 years ago. When my grandmother, Helen, passed away several years ago, we discovered that she had started writing her memoirs. We had grown-up listening to the stories of her childhood. She had told us about living through the German Blitz bombing of her home and how she had met my grandfather in an Army Hospital. We knew that she had emigrated to Canada as a warbride. But there were stories she had not told us. Family secrets that had been kept for years. Ever yours, Nellie, is my interpretation of her memoir. There are minor fictional elements that help push the story along smoothly, but the core of her story exists. My grandmother’s sheer determination to survive against any situation, any prejudice against her, and to pull herself and her family out of poverty, is why my grandmother’s story must be told.

My creative mind stretches in many directions. This is the prerogative of a prolific writer. I have many stories to tell and a strong desire to tell them all. I hope you come along for the ride. Whatever it is that urges my fingers around the keyboard in their curious, homegrown hunt and peck style, I am grateful and afraid. Because I don't know why it happens. I don't know where it comes from. I—and this is the real knee-knocking stuff—I don't know how long I have until those deep, dark wells in my cerebral cortex may decide to dry up. Best not to examine it all too closely, right? Like everyone, I'm just along for the ride.

What I do know is that I owe a great debt to the writers that kept my flashlight glowing under the covers so many years ago. Rod Serling, R.L. Stevenson, precious Miss Shelley and Bram Stoker, Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, H.G. Wells and Lovecraft, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Erle Stanley Gardner, Shirley Jackson, Dean Koontz and my lodestone Stephen King. (I love you, man.)

I've worked for many years in advertising as a copywriter and a creative director. That is the only thing James Patterson and I have in common, regrettably. James Dickey once worked at my ad agency in Atlanta, also as a copywriter. He got his Deliverance long before I came along. The point of it all is that advertising kept my wheels greased and may have even prepared me for this writer's path I've chosen. I hope so. I'm having a blast. I started reading science fiction many years ago beginning with authors like Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clark, and Ray Bradbury. I loved the universes they created as well as the interesting characters in them. Beginning in middle school and encouraged by a great teacher, I created my first stories and found the process enjoyable.

​Life always seemed to get in the way, and for a long time, I put writing away. Then I met some friends who involved me in role-playing games. I took the basic characters generated for me and wrote their backstories. I felt there should be something more to my characters than just stats like strength, dexterity, and intelligence. My characters should have a history, with dreams, goals, loves, and fears. A great friend encouraged me to write stories about what was happening between those role-playing sessions. We called it Reality B. It took on a life of its own and soon diverged from the role-playing universe. I always wanted to take some of those characters and create stories in my own universe.  ...and now, I can.

Born in 1952 in Orsett, Essex in England, the youngest son to Welsh parents Iris and Bill Edwards. Hello, I’m Diann Floyd Boehm – an international award-winning children’s author and young adult fiction writer. My books celebrate kindness, peace, imagination, curiosity, and the confidence to believe in yourself.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education from George Mason University and a Kindergarten Endorsement from the University of Texas at Austin. I taught preschool through middle school, both in the U.S. and abroad and was one of the early educators introducing technology into classrooms. Helping teachers and children explore learning through curiosity and creativity remains one of my greatest joys.

What began as bedtime stories has become a growing collection of books loved by children and families across the globe. I continue to write, teach and speak about the magic of imagination and kindness, because every story has the power to make the world a little brighter.

Dr. Brad C. Anderson lives with his wife and puppy in Vancouver, Canada. He teaches undergraduate business courses at a local university and researches organizational wisdom in blithe defiance of the fact most people do not think you can put those two words in the same sentence without irony. Previously, he worked in the biotech sector where he made drugs for a living (legally!).

From Kalee... I didn’t grow up with money and I watched my single mother struggle. I always wished there was something I could do to help. It was then, at that early age, that my own journey to financial independence began.
This is my absolute passion – I love creating new possibilities in people's lives by showing them the ropes when it comes to money. I’m here to spark healthy and positive conversations around wealth and investment and help create a world where no one is limited by their financial situation. 
I chose to become a financial advisor to empower and support women and put an end to their money-related stress. I believe no woman should ever have to feel anxious about how to support themselves, their family, or their futures.
Today, I am a single mom and a financially independent woman. Being an advisor allows me to work directly with women to empower and support them. Five years ago, I started hosting monthly women’s only events to create a comfortable space for women to learn and discuss money and investment topics.
With the promotion of financial literacy being one of my top priorities, I host a podcast titled The Wealth and Wellness podcast where I bring together the important link between our net-worth and self-worth. I have appeared on the Global Morning Show in Calgary to discuss ways to teach our children about money. I have also written numerous financial related articles, one such article titled ‘Raising Money Savvy Children’ was published in Calgary’s Child Magazine. In 2023, I have two books being released; one, a non-fiction book titled Make Money Your Thing! and a children’s picture book called MoneyWise, Mabel’s Bursting Bank.

I started writing when given a typewriter at the age of ten. The world of Kinthur was born in 1991 during the start of my journey through college. The first novel, Penta Ka Wa: The Dark Gift started as an oral story told to friends, but as the years passed, the story got longer and came alive, demanding it be put to paper.

Inspired by role-playing games (Dungeons & Dragons) and all the influences of the great fantasy writers in the past, the world of Kinthur was born. Over 10,000 years of history have been planned out to be shared and more stories are on the way. Kinthur is filled with dragons, elves, heroes, vampires, gods and more fantastical creatures than you can throw a grimoire at.

The Penta Ka Wa series came first, as the character held a special place in games and story alike.

The next series, The Adventurers, was born out of one of Penta's chance encounters with a wayward group of travelers. Theirappearance was so momentous, they had to have their own series.

After that my wife joined me in my writing journey and we started a third series of book based on actual games played in my fantasy world.

We’ve moved to Costa Rica with our two dogs to semi-retire and write full time. We hope to give more Kinthur to our readers than ever before and look forward to interacting with them as the canon of Kinthur grows.

Jesús Canchola Sánchez had his first short story published at the age of 7 in his Chicago elementary school newspaper. His debut novel is Escape From Natura Met (2025). He received the Hispanic Playwrights in Residence award by INTAR Theater and won the Pregones Theater Asunción Playwrights Competition. He's the author of the children's book Pepito Has A Doll/Pepito tiene una muñeca (2021). Canchola Sánchez was a producer on the morning talk show Las Comadres con Gloria B (2008-2010) that aired on Telemundo 47 in the tri-state area. He is the writer/director of the Mexican feature film Bittersweet Waters (2019). As an actor, he appeared on NBC's Late Night with Conan O'Brien "Conando" sketches and danced on Bhangra Dance Workout of Massala Productions. He was on stage at the Public Theater in 365 days/365 plays, Pregones Theater, Fringe NYC and played Demetrius in A Midsummer Night's Dream directed by Stuart Vaughan at the Lucille Lortel Theater.

David Shactman is an expert in national health policy and medical tourism. After careers in real estate and retail, he studied health policy at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. Following graduation, he worked on clinical practice guidelines for the U.S. Agency of Health Care Policy and Research. He then joined the research faculty at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. While there, he co-edited two collections, “Regulating Managed Care” and “Policies for an Aging Society.” Mr. Shactman has published scholarly articles in peer reviewed journals and has delivered conference speeches, academic lectures and Congressional testimony.
