Marlissa Cunningham

Hey, friends! Welcome back, and welcome to 2026! This first episode of the year has a brand new guest! Marlissa Cunningham was such a joy to have, and I can't wait to read her book! She entered it in the Indie Author Revolution sale, so (along with a bunch of other authors) her book will be free on Amazon for at least a couple days starting January 16. Susie Ashmore

Susie Ashmore

Hey, friends! Welcome back! Susie Ashmore is such a blast, and I hope you have as much fun as we did! Of course, we talked books, but we also talked about Christmas in Australia (They go to the BEACH, y'all!) and why this author won't ever go back to her chilly native Canada.

Head over to Susie's website for insights into Susie's goal setting podcast, the workshop that helped inspire her book, and tons of other stuff! You can also find links to her book, The Girlfriend Manifesto (I'm totally checking it out, you guys! It sounds so fun!).

Susie's website is susieashmore.com, and you can also follow her on instagram @susie.ashmore_author (same handle as her threads, too!)

This was such a wonderful way to finish out 2025, so have a very merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Joyous Kwanza, or whatever other holiday you celebrate! Happy Boxing Day, too!

Have a wonderful New Year, and I'll be back in January with a new guest, so in the meantime, don't forget to subscribe, share with a friend, and as always... keep writing. The world needs your stories. Until Next Time, Friends!

Hannah R. Goodman

Hannah R. Goodman

Hey, friends! Welcome back! I'm so glad you're here, and I'm so excited to introduce you to Hannah Goodman! We had such a fun chat this week, even though I feel like I did most of the talking, lol! Hannah is SUCH a doll! We had so much fun reminiscing about the 90's, our shared high school experiences, and how much I HATE being called an "elder" millennial, being born in 1981.

Leave a comment on Spotify with your favorite 80's or 90's book series (Nancy Drew, Babysitter's Club, Sweet Valley Twins, etc...) or favorite 90's author with your favorite book from that author and why. We'd love to connect over our love of the 90s!

When you're done leaving a comment, head over to Hannah's website, hannahgoodman.com, or instagram/threads to say hi! Hannah's instagram or threads handle is hannahrgoodman75.

Hannah's books are available pretty much anywhere books are sold, so the best way to find them is to head to her website and look at them there. You can then follow the link to your preferred retailer and make your purchase that way. I don't know if Hannah offers signed physical copies, but a lot of authors I know do that through their website, so it's definitely something to look into!

I hope you enjoyed this week's episode! Please subscribe while you're here, share with a friend, and as always... Keep writing. The world needs your stories. Until Next Time, Friends!

I absolutely loved having Kelly on the podcast this week! She was such a joy, and so much fun! We talked about so much, the main thing being how important it is to communicate with others, especially about race and color. It's a wonderful episode, and I hope you enjoy as much as we did!

Joe Weinberg

Joe Weinberg

Hey, friends! After a week off, I'm back with a brand new guest! Joe Weinberg is a multi-passionate, AudHD author, who enjoys genre-hopping through his books, so if you can't decide which genre to read, or if you only read one genre, you'll probably find one of his you'll enjoy :) We had a great time talking, and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Joe's Recommendation this week is Vagabond by Tim Curry, his memoir about working in show business. Joe mentioned loving reading about the background about some of his favorite Tim Curry movies, and it sounds really interesting! I love memoirs, so I might have to check it out.

My recommendation this week is the Goners Trilogy by Kenyon Gagne. Book three isn't out yet, but Kenyon is a good friend of mine, and he creates amazing character-driven sci-fi, so you won't want to miss his writing!

Hang out with Joe!

You can find all Joe's links on his linktree at https://linktr.ee/jweinberg, so head there and check out his books, his socials, and his kofi :) You can even find his patreon at https://patreon.com/JoeWeinberg, if you're interested in supporting him that way.

Ryan M Schulz

Hey, Friends! This week on The Picky Bookworm, Ryan Schulz and I talk vampires, queerness in books, and the various mythologies surrounding vampire lore! We had SUCH a blast!

Ryan is originally from Perth, West Australia, but moved to London, where he currently lives. He's been involved in show business for years and had some really fun stories to tell! I hope you enjoy as much as I did! The hour flew by, so I'm gonna have to have him back for more conversations!

You can find Ryan at his website, ryanmschulz.com, where you can sign up for his newsletter, find his books, and follow him on all his socials! He's such a blast to talk to, so I know you won't regret making friends with him!

Thanks again to "wifey" for telling Ryan to ask me to be on the podcast! I agree with Ryan that we may have to have her on with him next time! That will be fun! Maybe I'll get some Polish recipes from her ;)

Ryan's book, Filament Lit Nights, is on Amazon, so head over there to purchase! Be sure to leave a review if you loved it!

Megan Mary

Megan Mary

I had such a fun time with Megan Mary this week! Megan is a dream analyst, author, and more, and she had tons to talk about with me on the show!

As a dream analyst, Megan works with clients to interpret their dreams, learn to recall their dreams, and learn to use their dreams to uplift their lives. She's using her work in dreams to pursue her Doctorate, which is such a noble pursuit, and I wish her all the best luck in the world!

As an author, Megan uses her own dreams and imagination to create worlds and stories to not only help readers in their pursuit of dream interpretation, but to also cozy up with a fun mystery when they need to escape the real world for a little while. Her trilogy, Witches of Maple Hollow, is available in multiple formats and multiple online stores, so be sure to check it out!

You can find all sorts of information about Megan on her website, meganmary.com, including a course about dream work, her books, and her podcast! Go say hi and make friends! Megan is also super active on Threads, so go find her @meganmaryauthor and leave her a note to say hi :)

Nicola Hollingsworth

Hey, friends! Nicola Hollingsworth joins me this week and we had such a blast! Nicola is a neurodivergent author from the UK who lives in Spain, and I gotta tell you, the chat we had was all over the place! Full of laughs and fun, though, so I hope you enjoy!

Most of our chat was about movies based on books, and the casting that goes into them, especially casting Non-American actors in American roles. If you have thoughts about our opinions after the show, leave a comment!

Hang out with Nicola on Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok or Threads, and be sure to say hi! Her handle on Instagram is nicolahollingsworthauthor, and you should be able to find her other handles from there.

I didn't get to mention Trudie Skies in the podcast, but they wrote The Cruel Gods series that I got to read a while back, and the series was AMAZING. I believe they identify as non-binary. Even if this weren't Pride month, I'd recommend them, but this seems like a particularly good time to lift them up. I hope you enjoyed this episode! Mark H Newhouse

Mark H Newhouse

Mark joined me on The Picky Bookworm this week, and I had SUCH a blast! It turned out to be kind of funny, because he commented on his age at one point, and I admitted I didn't know how old he was when I invited him on. It turned out to be perfect, because it felt like sitting with my grandpa, listening to him talk about his life. He talked about his books, Devil's Bookkeepers, and what inspired them. His parents were survivors of Auschwitz during the Holocaust and immigrated to the US when Mark was very small. This chat was amazing, and enlightening, and incredible. I hope you enjoy as much as I did!

Hang out with Mark online:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mark.newhouse.904Website: http://markhnewhouse.comDevil's Bookkeepers: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NGJ7HGWDefenders of Monstrovia Podcast is available on the following platforms: Amazon, Google, Apple, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and GoGoGo. It's a dramatization of his kid's books of the same name. I'll take a listen and be sure to let you know what I think!

I really had an absolute blast during this episode, and I hope you enjoy, as well! Mark did have to set me straight about a couple things, which I never mind. I hate when things make sense in my mind, but don't get verbalized right, but when people are willing to tell me, "Hey, that doesn't sound right," it helps me make sure I'm communicating what I mean in a more sensitive way. I hope you can take a lesson from my mistakes and know that no one is perfect! I've never claimed to be perfect, and understanding that our words do have an impact, whether we mean them the way they sound or not, is important.

If I sound frustrated, it's at myself, not at Mark, so please take his correction in the spirit it's meant. I love all of you and want to make sure this community always remains the kind and wonderful place it's always been. Until Next Time, Friends!

Okie Bookcast

Okie Bookcast

J Hall with Okie Bookcast joins me this week on The Picky Bookworm podcast! It's always fun having a fellow podcaster to join in the fun, but having a fellow Okie is especially enjoyable! J spends his podcast time highlighting authors from Oklahoma, which is interesting, considering our state isn't really known for having a huge literary community. I learned a lot from this episode (did you know there's a PIGEON museum in Oklahoma City?!!?) and found a few new books to add to my TBR! I hope you enjoy!

Gabe Hargrave joins me on The Picky Bookworm AGAIN to chat! I hope you guys aren't sick of him yet, because I'm not! He's one of my most popular guests, mostly because we get into some of the wackiest discussions! This week, we actually talk religion, which is something we don't normally talk about. I brought it up, because I wanted to make sure people knew that no matter your beliefs, you are welcome here. Gabe and I disagree on a lot of things, but inclusion is not one of them. We hope you enjoy our chat this week, and I definitely hope you check out Gabe's books! If you enjoy inclusion and found family, along with a little (a lot of?) spice, then Gabe's books are for you! James Bow

James Bow

Hey, friends! Welcome back!

I've been a fan of James Bow ever since I read The Night Girl years ago. For some reason, I was never able to find him on social media, to tell him how much I loved Perpetua and her gang of goblins, but apparently that's because I was looking in the wrong place. I'm never on Facebook, and that's one of the places he's most active.

Anyway, James emailed me a few weeks ago, and asked me to read and review his new book, The Sun Runners, and of course it got added to my Amazon wishlist. Haven't read it yet, but it's on the list. And, of course, I invited James to come chat on the podcast! I wanted a chance to fangirl over The Night Girl, and give him a chance to tell you all about his new book. So, here we are :) I hope you enjoy!

Dana Wolk

Dana Wolk

Hello, my wonderful friends! Thank you for joining me this week, along with my new friend, Dana Wolk! Dana and I met on LinkedIn, where we immediately hit it off, and decided we were probably going to be best friends for life. She is amazing, because not only did she manage to become a bookworm even though she had dyslexia, and reading is still a struggle for her some days, but she also got her master's degree in literacy, despite some professors telling her she shouldn't. Shame on those professors! Now, she works as a special ed teacher, with non-verbal autistic kids in the Bronx NY, and loves every minute of it.

Needless to say, Dana is one of my heroes, and I was thrilled to share some of her story with you this week. I hope you will follow her on social media and get to know her like I have. She's a lot of fun to talk to, and she also uses her word talents to write blog content for others in all sorts of industries, through her company, Sasa Media Services. Be sure to check her out!
