Hi everyone and welcome back to the Just as Planned TV show and Podcast. My name is Amanda Lutvey from Marry Me Amanda and I am one of your hosts for the Just As Planned Podcast this season.
I have been so excited about today’s interview. We are joined by Anthony Ikin one half of the creative duo behind ‘Glo Events’. Glo Events is a visionary creative house dedicated to crafting and delivering the most spectacular events in town. Whether it’s a milestone celebration, brand activation or gala ball, the Glo experience is fearlessly creative and elegantly daring.
Anthony grew up in a footy-obsessed family. At age 6, he ran onto his first football field…. or should we say, his first stage to perfect his cartwheels whilst his teammates played on. His parents soon realised that scrums and tackles were not his forte and that he had a penchant for performing under stage lights.
Anthony went on to become the World Aerobics Champion, a top-10 finalist on the TV show So You Think You Can Dance, and a can-can soloist in the Parisian cabaret Moulin Rouge.
Pirouetting from on-stage to behind the scenes, he has worked as a Creative Director and Choreographer on a glittering portfolio of global projects. These include a career highlight of choreographing the closing ceremony of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and, most recently, adding his dance flare to the iconic musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
Anthony’s background, together with his husband Pete’s background as a TV producer on some our favourite shows (including MAFS and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), has seen them travel the world working in a creative capacity across so many mediums. It seems such a natural step that this creative pair started their own event company and I am thrilled to have Anthony with us to share their story, share some insider tips and to treat us to some of his amazingly positive energy…

Jeff isn't your average wedding professional. He's not just a celebrant; he's a celebrant, DJ, MC, pyrotechnics extraordinaire, photobooth provider, and even a saxophonist! Based in the picturesque Hunter Valley of New South Wales, Jeff has been part of over 3000 weddings throughout his career. That's right, he's seen more wedding cake than most of us have seen in a lifetime.
Jeff's style is all about keeping it light and entertaining. He's got a wicked sense of humor, a few quirks like hating coriander, and an epic wardrobe collection that can turn any wedding into a show-stopping event. He loves the beach and serenading guests with his saxophone, and if you want to get on his good side, just serve him some tacos or Dragonfruit.
In fact, Jeff's love for weddings knows no bounds. He once married a couple inside a KFC, proving that love can blossom in the most unexpected places. And when it comes to your big day, he's not just about ticking legal boxes; he's here to celebrate how foolishly in love you are.
In today's episode, Jeff is ready to dish out insights into crafting unforgettable wedding experiences. We'll delve into some of the most memorable and unconventional weddings he's been part of, including the fascinating story behind a wedding inside a KFC. Jeff will also unveil his crowd-warming techniques, sharing how to get everyone on their feet and in the party mood at your wedding. Beyond his unique combination of talents, Jeff will explore the broader topics that can help couples plan their dream weddings, from adding a touch of adventure and fun to staying organized and creating unforgettable moments.
So, if you're ready to bring some excitement to your wedding and learn how to make it a day filled with fun and unforgettable moments, you're in for a treat. Jeff, welcome to the show!

Weddings with a Purpose: The Wedding Mavericks' Charity Auction 2024 with Heidi Rayment
Heidi is not your typical celebrant, content creator, or MC. She's a party-starting celebrant, a memory-making content creator, and a chaos-controlling MC—all rolled into one. She's the vendor you need to take your wedding to the next level, where you and your guests will experience something unforgettable, something that can't be compared to anything else. But Heidi's mission goes beyond just creating epic weddings; she's on a journey to make weddings meaningful in a whole new way.
What makes Heidi truly unique is her love for chaos, the shock factor, and, of course, the fun! She's become known for bringing a Nerf Gun to discourage guests from taking photos during the ceremony. Many of her couples even play Shot Roulette to decide who says their vows first. There's almost nothing she won't do for an amazing photo op or guest reaction (except a shoey – she will NEVER do a shoey!).
But here's the real game-changer: Heidi is the driving force behind "The Wedding Mavericks." It's an eclectic group of inspiring wedding visionaries who are shaking up the status quo with daring innovation. And what's even more exciting is that they're auctioning off a Melbourne Charity Wedding in 2024, and they want YOU to be a part of it!
This isn't just any wedding; it's a wedding with a purpose. The charity they've chosen is 'The Lost Dogs Home in Melbourne,' a small local charity without big government backing. Here's how it works: vendors will provide their products or services as part of a total wedding package. The package will be auctioned off on Valentine's Day 2024, and interested couples will engage in bidding. The winning couple will pay their winning bid directly to the charity. The wedding itself is set for the 1st of August 2024, giving the couple ample time to fill any gaps not provided in the package.
If you've ever dreamed of having a wedding that not only celebrates your love but also gives back to the community, then you won't want to miss this episode. Heidi Rayment is here to share the incredible story behind 'The Wedding Mavericks' and how you can be a part of this unique and meaningful wedding experience. Heidi, welcome to the show!
