Every Recovery journey is unique

A candid recovery chat with Duncan Bhaskaran Brown
Some people say that Duncan can help you to go beyond alcohol.
But that isn't it. Duncan will help you increase your energy, power up your productivity, improve your relationships and enjoy the heck out of life.
After 20 years of overdoing it, he cleaned up his act and trained with the worldβs most successful stop smoking service. But that wasnβt enough.
He studied at Cornell University, the Chartered Management Institute and in a windowless room in Peterborough. But that wasn't enough.
He wrote a couple of books, most recently βReal Men Quitβ, the armchair macho guide to beating booze and finding the life you want. But that wasn't enough.
Heβs started interviewing the sober superstars and conducting research projects which involved watching TV. But that wasn't enough.
What would be enough? Maybe if alcohol-free was the default, if sober was the new normal and if alcohol stops destroying people. Maybe then Duncan will sit down with a mint tea and sci-fi novel and relax. Maybe.

Lauren Howman her struggle with addiction and her journey into recovery
As a Nurse Practitioner, Lauren not only has witnessed firsthand the impact of addiction on individuals and families but has suffered from alcohol dependency herself and is now over 3.5 years sober. Motivated by her passion for wellness and a desire to make a lasting difference, she transitioned into the role of a Sobriety and Wellness Coach. Lauren's unique approach in helping people change their relationship with alcohol sets her apart in the field, as she focuses not just on quitting alcohol but on transforming the relationship individuals have with it. Rather than relying solely on willpower, Lauren guides her clients to lose the desire for alcohol, helping them break free from the chains of addiction. Her journey is a testament to the fact that true and lasting change is possible, no matter how deeply entrenched one might feel in their struggles.

Rhian Gritten Story of Addiction &Recovery
Meet the Founder and Powerhouse behind Empowered Recovery, Rhian Gritten.
Rhian spent 20 years of her life lost to drug, alcohol and food addictions. At the age of 35 she had pretty much given up and resigned herself to the fact that she would just exist through life never truly finding happiness.
Then in 2017 this all changed for her
After leaving a 9 year abusive relationship and tipping the scales at 26 stone, Rhian knew that something had to change, and that change had to come from within. Rhian set some very big goals for herself which many laughed at, but due to her determination and refusal to give up, those dreams became a reality and in 2023 she hit her target weightloss of 17 stone. Her success wasn't linear, far from it, but thatβs what makes her so special and why she achieved basically the impossible. She refused to give up on herself.
In 2020 she became one of only a small fraction of people to beat and recover from necrotising fasciitis (only 1 in 5 survive which she believes places her in the badass category), she was then diagnosed with the chronic illness Trigeminal Neuralgia, suffered facial paralysis in early 2021, was diagnosed with Complex - PTSD, grieved the death of her Grandma in December 2022 and sadly found out that her Father has Huntington's Disease, meaning she could also be a carrier of the gene.
Rhian has spent the last 4 years helping thousands of Women to recover from alcoholism and drug addiction through her page Unapologetically Rhi. Rhian, along with her partner Gareth who is also sober, has created a free only support community called Empowered Recovery where men and women find recovery from addiction every day. She also has a Female Only Membership - Unapologetically You where she works closely with her Members to create a life they no longer need to escape from.
Through the work she does Rhian plans to end the stigma surrounding drug addiction. It will no longer be a taboo subject where people are ashamed to discuss it. She is the voice of people who are too scared to ask for help. She is the light for those who are still lost in the dark. She recovers loudly so that people donβt die in silence.
Rhian hopes to inspire others by sharing her message of hope, faith, determination and the refusal to accept that βthis is all there is.β
βThe only way youβll fail, is if you quit.β m.facebook.com/unapologeticallyrhi
