65: The Southern Trout Stalker I - Colby Trow/ Virginia/ Mossy Creek

I fell in love with Mossy Creek : a true limestone spring creek in the style of the hallowed Letort, back in my Washington D.C. hotel days. It’s the Shenandoah section of the limestone rich Cumberland Valley that goes down the Amish country/ Lee Highway Rte.11.  As it runs down from Mt Solon in the Alleghenies , Mossy and its selective browns and stunningly colored rainbows sip bwo’s, sulphers, slash terrestrials and maul sculpins year-round. It’s the closest thing to a big sky Montana/ Idaho/ Wyoming vista and experience you will witness east of the Mississippi.

Couple the other spring creeks he has there  with all the Blue Ridge / Allegheny Mountain indigenous brook trout streams with classic mayfly hatches that number in the in the hundreds, and you have hidden gems that ooze beauty. Couple those with great trout tailwaters, and the amazing bass fishing of the Shenandoah and James, and you have truly one of the greatest fly fishing states in the country! I cannot speak more superlatives about what my very good friend Colby has to offer at Mossy Creek Fly Fishing in Harrisonburg. His boutique fly shop is a true Civil War period historical monument and must be seen. Plus, he will show you bass that embody all I have written about in selectivity.

63: Chasing Dame Juliana - Lucinda Ewin. A U.K.’s Lady’s Passion for Salmon and Trout [Trout Stalker Series]

In the U.K., fly fishing has always been a proper gentleman’s game. Women were sort of looked down on at the elite chalk stream clubs and beats.

Lucinda Ewin is a real, passionate, sincere and simply fabulous fly angler in love with Atlantic salmon, sea trout, and brown trout. She is paying her dues which is something so rare in today’s agenda filled, social media twisted ‘same old’ monotony. Sometimes the more knowledge and wisdom we accrue the more we think we must prove a point. We so quickly forget that at one time we are all beginners/hacks/ and most of us still are in the bigger picture of it all. Lucinda is the breath of fresh air of someone loving what she does as a fly tackle rep, being a mother, traveling and photographing her journey. She still has that spark and passion while studying the Spey cast, understanding brown trout, hatches and how amazing sea trout are - all my Nexus book loves. I couldn’t wait for this podcast to be aired…enjoy the passion that is Lucinda

Notes….. let her rip!!!!

62: Selective Trout - A British Perspective- Peter Hayes/ Don Stazicker. Their Book: “The Flies that Trout Prefer”

Next up on the ‘Trout Stalker’ series is a topic I adore dearly. The “British Invasion” and their iconic contributions to fly fishing for trout has come in 4 waves. First,  it was the genesis and invention of the sport in Hertfordshire in 1496 with Dame Juliana and Walton with the “ A Treatyse of Fysshynge wyth an Angle” Then it was the foundation of modern fly fishing on the Hampshire/ Wiltshire chalk streams with Marryat, Halford, Skues and Sawyer. The modern era saw the introspective works of Goddard ( Goddard Caddis fame) and Clarke with the epic work “ The Trout and the Fly”. But this 4 wave is perhaps the most groundbreaking and introspective of them all. Today, authors/  anglers and trout behaviorists:  Peter Hayes and Don Stazicker, with their underwater cameras and introspective, highly empirical prose, have invaded a trout’s aquatic dining room and gives us a confirmation of what the American masters have learned about trout feeding behavior. Their new book: “ The Flies that Trout Prefer” is a modern masterpiece and a must for every trout angler. It probes the world of meniscus chaos:  ‘junk flies/ shucks’ and how still borns/ cripples ( casualties) emergers, and why some of the most unruly and awkward flies appeal to a trout’s fancy rather than the most perfectly tied ones. No serious fly angler can miss this podcast and not have this book !

Trout Stalker Series Part 1

It is one of the most iconic waters of modern American Fly Fishing history. The Letort is the American chalk stream/ limestone spring creek equivalent to the River’s Test and Itchen in England. In the Cumberland Valley it was Marinaro, Fox, Shenk, Koch and so many other Letort Regulars that created a legacy of terrestrials, dry fly matching the hatch , minutiae, stream conservation work - the innovations are endless. Most importantly it’s about a wild Loch Leven strain brown that has endured one chemical spill after another for decades. The lady flows through a growing urban sprawl, strip malls and housing projects, gets her ground water sucked out of it, and yet it’s very resilient and migratory browns have developed a life survival strategy to combat all the hardships thrown at it including climate change.

Join guest river keeper and guide: Neil Sunday, and host Matt Supinski as they discuss in part 1 its history dating back to the French and Indian war, its watershed from head to tail and beyond; and it’s modern legacy. The main point of the podcast is conservation and how to protect the Letort and get it more friends. Part II is about the unique wild strain browns, becoming the ultimate stalker in the hunt for Mr. Bigs- then hatches, tactics, flies , tackle for spring creeks etc … don’t miss this one!

Chasing Chrome Series - Part 5

I have  guided and fished Great Lakes summer steelhead now for almost 36 years. Between my brief hotel career stints on the West Coast and Indiana, I have written and explored more about our Great Lakes Summer Skamania steelhead than perhaps no one else. Looking for answers and the history of Washington State’s iconic Washougal River’s Skamania strain fish’s introduction into Lake Michigan by Indiana, brought me to one of the finest books ever written on those fish: Dry Line Steelhead by Bill McMillan. Join me and my guest John: Bill’s  son, as we discuss John’s epic steelhead conservation work and fighting for the plight of the most beautiful migratory salmonid fish that swims- Washington State’s Washougal steelhead. John is President of the West Coast based Conservation Angler group. We discuss his dad and the fishing legacy of dry line steelheading today- don’t miss this one!

52: Norway - Giant Salmon and Brown Trout of the Vikings. Guest: Simen Strømhylden - Part 4: Atlantic Salmon on the Run

Norway - the Land of the Midnight Sun,  has a breathtaking and unparalleled Nordic magnetism- a raw beauty that no other country on the planet can boast. Its unbelievably stunning  fjords, and soaring and austere snow capped mountains,  garnish some of the most majestic rivers on earth. These harbor some of the planet’s incredibly large Atlantic salmon to be found- up to 90 pounds have been recorded, along with sea trout,  brown trout and mayfly/ stonefly hatches once in the greatest  quantities imaginable. But it is in these rivers- the playground of all of Europe, that our beloved salmon could have been loved to death. From the thousands of salmon fish farms feeding the insatiable appetite of the world for Omega -3 ‘s and the health benefits of salmon, have come the spread of  disease, and pollution of wild  genetics by escaped salmon breeding with wild ones , Add the decades of killing of big brood stock salmon by anglers,  and climate change’s ugly head, could  our magnificent salmon of the Viking gods met their tragedy- or Viking Ragnarök? With the river closures implemented this summer, more is needed to protect these magnificent beasts from decimation. We raise a skål to you in helping us educate and love these truly magnificent creatures.

Summer on the River’ episodes. Despite challenges being faced by Salmo salar around the globe, northern Ireland and its River Foyle system , with its headwater rivers the Mourne and Finn, are experiencing an excellent summer run of grilse and adult salmon. Plus the well- rounded diversity with its resident native brown trout and sea run browns, adds to the Nexus mix. The delightful and charming Irish people, the natural beauty , the golf- and sightseeing of probably one of the most beautiful countries on the globe , just adds to this magnificent place- ( video clip below, twin brother Jarllath Spey casting a long- belly line, is the ghillie on the Glenmore Castle estate on the River Finn owned by Michael Hucknell, known as singer Simply Red)…can’t wait to be back there next year!. Airs this weekend… next stop, the conundrum that is the stunning and breathtaking Norway. Please stay cool and hydrated, and watch river temps- support our trout and salmon as they try to survive this hellish summer !- cooling is in sight

49: Atlantic Salmon on the Run Series - Gaspe Quebec/CA - David Bishop - Episode 1

49: Atlantic Salmon on the Run Series - Gaspe Quebec/CA - David Bishop - Episode 1

Our fascination and allure with Salmon salar dates back to Neanderthal man and ancient Roman civilization. It is truly the fish of kings and queens, and rivers that run through regal estates, and vast wilderness areas in the north like Labrador, Arctic Russia and Scandinavia . Why I am so grateful we have a thriving Atlantic salmon fishery in Michigan. But to the gastronomic world , it could be one of the most cherished dishes we have ever come to love to death . However, to the fly fisher, it is by far the most sporting, most savagely beautiful, and beguiling fish that will rise to take the fly. Its relationship to the highly sought after brown trout makes Atlantic salmon the king of all bucket list game fish

Though many Atlantic salmon fisheries are experiencing hardships in the world due to the effects of over-harvesting, commercial fish farms and the extremes of climate change, the Gaspe of Quebec’s rivers and wild Atlantic salmon are thriving very well, thanks to forward thinking and tight ecological management.

David Bishop is one of the top Atlantic salmon guides on the planet- bar none! And together with host Matthew Supinski , they bring you the secret world of diving into the fish’s mind and spirit, tactics and flies, and current world challenges facing the courageous Salmo salar and its verve to survive- don’t miss this one!

41: Atlantic Salmon Federation's CEO Bill Taylor - The Plight of Atlantic Salmon - Civilizations Founding Fish

There has never been a fish on earth that we humans haven’t been fascinated with and simply loved to death. The Romans on their conquest of Europe and the British Isles saw them leaping tall waterfalls and named them “salar”- the leaper . Gaulish Aquitania clans and tribes swore allegiance to the god Salmo rather than to Caesar, and thus perished by the sword . Early cave dwelling Neanderthals drew etchings of salmon at the caves of Lascaux in France near the River Vézère . When cave dwellers needed food for winter , salmon ran up rivers by the thousands all the way up to the Alps and throughout Europe. First Nations Indigenous peoples relied on the runs of salmon in North America /Greenland-and northern Europe. Royalty built castles and large land holdings on Atlantic salmon rivers, which are heavily controlled and coveted even to this day- the royal’s Balmoral estate in Scotland is one such example. Salmon traded equally with gold in Rome during the empire and their wealth as a commodity today is immeasurable to populations and communities around the globe, from the Canadian Maritimes to Iceland/ Scotland/Norway/ Russia . Today, , besides being one of the most highly sought after game fish for fly fishers and commercial fisherman alike, their gastronomical delights appeal to palates and chefs that crave them for their delicious flesh-omega 3 for heart health benefits/Keto diets. But can this insatiable consumption be sustained by what is left in the oceans? Each time you order salmon in the restaurants you are part of the problem; and also part of the solution to saving them, and hopefully putting an end to disease filled farm raised salmon. Nevertheless , they are being driven to endangerment and extinction in some ecosystems. DO YOU ENJOY THE SHOW?  PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO LIKE AND REVIEW US ON APPLE AND SPOTIFY! Sawyer sums up chalk stream nymphing it up in the traditional fashion: “Nymph fishing, if you are to be successful, is indeed a matter of being careful. It is not just the business of throwing a nymph at all the likely places and hoping the fish will take it. You turn yourself into a hunter and, with all the keenness of a stalker after a stag, figure wits and your eyesight against the facilities and faculties of the wild fish who are on the feed and continually on the lookout for nymphs moving in the water or below”. “Below the Meniscus”- The Evolution and Art of Fly Fishing Below the Surface with Nymphs and Wet Flies – A Five Part Series on Hallowed Waters Podcast

From its Roman Empire era origins in Macedonia with the Red Fly, and early beginnings with Dame Juliana and her “Treatise” dangling her beautifully concocted flies to fool trout and Atlantic salmon on the River Ver spring creek at her St Alban’s Sopwell Nunnery, is how fly fishing had its humble beginnings. But it was with the modern foundations of Ronalds, Skues, Sawyer, and Cutcliffe in England,  on the hallowed chalk streams of the Rivers Itchen and Avon; and North Country, Wales  and Dartmoor small freestone rivers, that the nymph and wet fly had their evolution. Thus the going below the meniscus art form has now become the most lethal way of taking trout worldwide with the onset of Euro Nymphing. Three accomplished guest figures of these genres: ex- pat Davy Wotton, George Daniel, and one of England’s iconic chalk stream fly fishing authors, Terry Lawton, along with Hallowed Waters Podcast host and author: Matthew Supinski, discuss the evolutionary magnitude, science, artistic beauty, techniques and gear, fly designs, but often questionable approaches with Euro and competitive fishing,  that impacts the trout and fly fisher with these highly effective tactics. The final episode discusses the impact on the angler and how it has transformed them from a fly shop and consumer’s perspective, with a highly skilled Euro nympher and fly shop guru guest: Torrey Collins. Don’t miss this  epic documentary podcast on the subject – stay tuned!

35: A Youthful Passion for Fly Fishing - Guest: Tiki Furimsky

The greatest memories of my life were learning to trout and salmon fish on small streams with my Dad and Uncle in the Southern Tier of New York and Poland. So many of us as boys and girls, whose passion for the fish still blazes uncontrollably today, rekindle those very fond memories daily in our dreams of that youthful innocence and pure fascination for everything and anything fishing- those days when we couldn't get enough! As we grow more competent and accomplished in our fly fishing, we often too soon forget about those wonderful days of youthful exploration, hunger and enthusiasm for wanting to learn and grasp every aspect of the fly fishing for trout and salmon passion. My young guest from Colorado: Tiki Furimsky, embodies that passion for fishing and nature, which is one of the most beautiful things on God's given earth. In my days, youth were meant to be seen and not heard from. We had to acquire our knowledge by paying our hard luck dues and constantly probing in books at the library; or bugging elders to give us information. Today with social media, Internet videos, having encouraging family mentors, and hopefully this podcast, the future can never be brighter for youth in fishing. Here, we can celebrate the verve and pure excitement that a young man like Tiki brings, which joyfully allows us to reflect on our own journeys'- Amen Tiki!

31: Spring Creeks - “God’s Special Brews” - Guest: Mike Lawson

A western fly fishing preacher once labeled spring creeks “God's special brews”. These geological wonders and masterpieces of nature are a perfect 48-58F cool water temp year-round that trout absolutely love. The fly anglers that hunt them are a special cult that are are addicted to their technical challenges and ultra-selective trout found in them. Author and Henry’s Fork legend Lawson, and author/ host Supinski, who has written and lectured extensively on spring creeks, discuss the peculiarities of spring creeks found in the  Eastern and Western part of North America, and of all those found around the world in this 4 hour/ 2 part documentary podcast. The history of their origins and lore on the English chalk streams is discussed along with the ancient geology that formed them on each continent. The unique vegetation and habitats, trout lies, prey and hatches, terrestrials, fly patterns, tactics, and presentations are all analyzed in this “books on tape” style technical podcast on all things spring creeks. An intense and in- depth technical podcast on streamers that concludes and complements a streamer trilogy with the first recorded episodes with friends Kelly Galloup and Tommy Lynch. Guest: Rich Strolis- author of "Catching Shadows" and commercial fly tyer, along with host and author Matthew Supinski dive deep into the history and evolution of the modern articulated streamer and the talented fly tying names that make up this new age streamer addiction and passion. Together they give you a "books on tape" analysis of the intense prey/predator hunt by defining the sporting tactical chase, reading water, predatorial fish behaviors, casting styles required and presentation adjustments needed to succeed in this hunt 365 days a year. References are continuously made to its similarities to other types of fly fishing like dry flies and spey swinging that a illicit a taking intercept response from the fish to complete the chase are all in this 3 hour and 45 minute comprehensive discussion. The streamer's evolution from Jennings/ Welch/ Stevens/Lefty/ Clouser/ Shenk/ Dahlberg etc.- to the Traverse City Michigan ground-zero Troutsman masterpiece theater of Kelly Galloups's/Bob Linsenman's first streamer bible revolution are discussed-which inspired every new age streamer designer with names like Tommy Lynch, Michael Schmidt, Russ Madden, Lafkas, Jac Ford, Senyo, Chocklett etc. Along with the early saltwater influences from designers like Mark Sedotti, and so many more names too numerous to mention here you have the complete anthology of the modern streamer design. In the trout world it is all an honor and testimonial to the ultimate poster child of the new big articulated meat hunt and addiction from Michigan's Northwood's, to the White River in Arkansas to Montana and everywhere in the world they are found : the magnificent Truttasaurus leviathan brown trout - “the king of the savage kill", that host Supinski wrote about in his Brown Trout Nexus book - enjoy!

25: The Age of Hype, Elitism, Commercialism, Politics, Social Media, Narcissism, Woke in Fly Fishing with Kirk Deeter

Whew!... the microphones are still smoking after this one! Sometimes some things just go to the breaking point in an age where cynicism, political correctness and fear to speak your opinions overshadow the true essence of the simple beauty and joy of fly fishing for trout and salmon. Hallowed Waters host Matthew Supinski and guest Kirk Deeter: book author and editor of Trout Unlimited’s TROUT Magazine, are not afraid to push the needle and speak the reality of these issues that now, unfortunately, spill into the quiet and soothing sport of fly fishing.  Bottom line: when is enough is enough, and where do you fit in? They discuss all the controversial elements that we now bring to the trout, salmon, and steelhead rivers. Elitism, vanity, and fish pictures/hero shots, obsessions with social media, the influx of river guides and who and what they are, the numbers game: bigger, better, faster, more now! Euro/competitive fishing, respecting home waters vs. destinations, marginal trout streams and rethinking our established paradigms, disruptive individuals and their contributions to making a difference, paying your dues as an angler, books and their importance, laws, and regulations to micro-manage each river system as riverkeepers, searching for Utopia, climate change, indigenous species nativism and which fish belong or don’t belong, foraging for food by a stream, love of brown trout and all wild trout and salmon that still luckily swim…All this in the quest to make you rethink your game and be all about the fish!

23: Brown Trout Myths and Misconceptions | Guest: The Doctor who lived with Brown Trout - Dr. Robert Bachman

The 90 years young Dr. Bob Bachman is well known for his Penn State four-year biological study of brown trout from a high-tech tree house on the limestone spring creek of Spruce Creek in Pennsylvania for his thesis paper. He knows them intimately and has fly fished for them and Atlantic salmon around the globe. In addition to his book authorships and fish commissioner of Pennsylvania and Maryland, he has pioneered and jump-started many wild trout fisheries in his tenure, along with his lecturing on them. He and brown trout book author and host: Matthew Supinski, delve deep into this 3-hour discussion of brown trout life survival strategies. The elusive, selective, adaptable, often predictable yet unpredictable natures, migratory and aggressive characteristics of the fish are discussed from a scientific and fisherman’s perspective and compared to other trout species. Many common myths, misconceptions, and basic misinformation about the fish and their daily lives are discussed in detail to help the angler better understand them and use it to improve their approach, fly selection, presentation, and timing for catching the brown trout of a lifetime. Don’t miss this one if you love fishing for browns and other trout in general. Spring creeks from Pennsylvania to the Driftless, to Montana, are discussed, along with the wild trout tailwaters and small freestone streams including the Delaware system and rivers throughout the world.

21: Poor Man’s Atlantic Salmon - The Great Lakes and Inland Salmo Salar. Guest: Fran Verdoliva

There is no doubt that Atlantic salmon are the fish of kings and queens, castle estates, royalty and the jet setting wealthy. But author of "The Brown Trout-Atlantic Salmon Nexus" and podcast host: Matthew Supinski, calls them "civilization's founding fish",and an amazing game fish of evolutionary creation that all anglers; rich or poor, should have access to no matter where in the world they are found.

With Michigan’s amazing Atlantic salmon evolution, along with the continued effort of Lake Ontario and the salmon river of New York and Ontario's indigenous lake dwelling Atlantic salmon legacy restoration, Atlantic salmon are a much sought after game fish that take a swung spey fly; and will attack a floating dry fly bomber with the beauty and elegance of a brown trout sipping mayflies. With the highly informed guest, Atlantic salmon expert and former NYSDEC salmon river coordinator: aka "Prince of Pulaski":Fran Verdoliva, Supinski and Verdoliva dive deep into the amazing world of what is, what should and what could be if Atlantic salmon programs were expanded and nurtured. With natural reproduction of Atlantic salmon and hybridization of brown trout and Atlantics documented on the Salmon River, Credit River in Ontario and Lake Huron, and anglers from poor communities in cities like Detroit catching chrome Atlantics along the Detroit river shorelines, the future is bright for these amazing adaptable and forage base diversified predators if given a chance. Also discussed are the Landlocked Salmon of New England and the Finger Lakes of New York, along with lake and sea run brown trout, that all make up the "Poor Man's Atlantic"...don't miss this one!

20: THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF TROUT - THE PRACTICAL AND PRAGMATIC ROSENBAUER APPROACH - SMALL STREAM TROUT FISHING TO HATCH MATCHING STRATEGIES

Don't miss this podcast!...The great Charlie Fox wrote an amazing book on this wonderful world of trout worship. My guest on this special troutbum troubadour episode is an iconic man that’s name and brand he represents is synonymous with fly fishing world wide. His talents and approach have been exemplary and he has been an iconic fly fishing sensei master for decades. His ground breaking Orvis helmsman ship of creativity, design and making fly fishing has been a mainstream part of the modern outdoor experience for the fine connoisseur of country sporting gentleman and lady that Orvis has been a hallmark of excellence and quality for over a century. But more importantly he has been a breath of fresh air to the novice that needs nurturing. With his amazing and prolific book authorships he has thought countless thousands of novices and experts the finer details of fly fishing for trout in every venue.
But I have always been envying his practical pragmatic approach...whereas my dreamy, theoretical, anthropomorphisms and mind twisting selectivity romanticism to fly fishing is a perfect opposite and compliment to this wonderful world of trout that demands both simplicity yet precision in presentation, along with fly pattern exactness to fool big trout that can be very fussy.
So without further adieux…I am honored to present the living Bergman and Brooks reincarnate that typifies a treatise of a troutbum, he is the pragmatic prophet that makes the conundrum of fly fishing easy to comprehend for a novices' nexus to becoming a master….he has done to fly fishing to introduce and make it exciting and fun as did fellow Vermontonians Ben and Jerry’s did to vanilla ice cream, and Bernie Sanders did to get millennials to be passionate about something again….all in the honor of the Fedora Flea Flicking Troutbum…the one and only “all hat and all cowboy”- which is rare…the most prolific fly fishing author that ever graced this wonderful world of trout- Rosenbauer himself. #orvisflyfishing #tomrosenbauer #smalltroutstreams #newyorkstatetroutstreams #hatchmatchingstrategies #orvisflyfishingbooks #orvispodcast #selectivitytrout #catskillflyfishing #mayflies #caddisflies # stoneflies #dryfly #euronymphing #streamers #browntroutatlanticsalmonnexus #matthewsupinski #hallowedwatersjournal #hallowedwaterspodcast

19: The Genesis and Evolution of Terrestrials-The Pennsylvania Limestone Spring Creek Legacy with Tommy Baltz

Perfect timing for the terrestrial fly fishing days of August, I am pleased to introduce Pennsylvania’s living  iconic legend…A dean of the Cumberland Valley “Limestone Alley” of selectivity’s snooty trout sanctity. He is a limestone spring creek guru that lives in the shadows and legacy of Marinaro, Shenk, Fox and Koch. Hallowed Waters host Matthew Supinski teams up with Orvis fly fishing guide and world-renowned fly tying guest Tommy Baltz as they discuss in-depth the hallowed waters of the Letort, Big Spring, Falling Spring and Yellow Breeches and their selective trout imprint on the Pennsylvania limestone spring creek legends and their contribution to modern American terrestrial fly fishing. Fly pattern designs and dynamics like the Letort Hopper and Crickets, beetles, ants, Jassids, cicadas and so much more are focused on! I have known Tommy since my Washington D.C. hotelier days having fished the Pennsylvania limestone creeks weekly back then in the 80’S as he and I have fished with some of the legends back then. We discuss our relationships, epiphanies and interesting anecdotes with those limestone legends, their amazing ground breaking books which influenced mine and how it influenced all of us and modern fly fishing today…don’t miss this one!

15: Indigenous Brook Trout-Are they America’s Fly Fishing Founding Fish? or not?! Guest: Maine’s Bob Mallard

Part of the “Indigenous, Introductions and Invasive’s ” Series.

Buckle your seatbelts and prepare for an intense couple of hours all you Salmonid saveurs and fellow Troutbum troubadours as Matthew Supinski, host and publisher of Hallowed Waters Journal and Podcasts; along with guest Bob Mallard take you listeners on a controversial, highly opinionated and riveting podcast that you surely can’t afford to miss! If you love wild brook trout, wild brown trout and rainbows, form your own opinions as the two authors joust opinions about their passions and favorite fish, and what is the right thing in the bigger scheme of things.

Have we become gods trying to manipulate the natural world in favor of what we love? Have we loved Brook Trout to death and put them on the highest pedestal of glory and worship? Are we being to virtuous and over-zealous when we eradicate other fish for the sake of what we think is pure and natural?

Brook Trout were the poster child fish of the first French fur trappers, colonials and Native Americans – they came to worship and love them. But as indigenous North American Atlantic salmon are on the verge of threatened extinction, and native brook trout populations continue to plummet, are brook trout in climate change’s favor? Can man’s greedy appetite to develop wilderness sanctuary waters someday be the death knell for these amazing game fish? And where do Brown Trout and Rainbows fit in to the mix? Will the more these more aggressive and highly adaptable trout become our universal salmonids of the future?
