The Going Merry: A One Piece Review Podcast

Luffy is struggling dealing with Sweet 3 General Cracker. Sanji reunites with his brothers after 13 years, but I dont know that I'd call it a warm reunion. When Luffy has to take some recoup time, Nami steps up to take on Cracker herself. With his family back together, Sanji thinks back to the last time they were together and all of the hell he was put through as a child.

Sanji and Judge's face off comes to a climax. Nami is able to escape Brulee's clutches and reunite with Luffy only to one into one of Big Mom's Sweet 3 Generals, her son Cracker. Not to worry though, they are able to get some surprising assistance from an old friend that has been long forgotten.

Jinbe makes a heroic appearance on Whole Cake. Luffy and the others make landfall as well, but they quickly get lost in the woods. Pedro and Brook take the sub to begin the infiltration while Sanji gets some quality bonding time in with his family.

Annabelle joins us once again as Luffy's group makes landfall in Totto Land. While they still have another day's journey to get to Whole Cake itself, that is not going to stop Luffy from already stirring up trouble. Maybe a little bit too much for his own good, if it wasn't for Sanji's sister and fiancé.

I do want to apologize for getting the episode out late. We did have technical difficulties and where unable to get the recording done in 1 sitting. The Ninja, Pirate, Mink, Samurai alliance splits into their groups and goes their separate ways. Luffy is officially bound for Whole Cake to get Sanji back. They are not the only ones beginning a voyage though. Around the world, Vivi, Rebecca, Shirahoshi, Dalton, and Dr. Koreha all prepare to depart for this years World Summit! Sanji officially arrives in Big Moms territory, though he has yet to meet his new bride.

Derek continues his rant about crew members and takes a swing below the belt. The new alliance has put together a base of a plan. It's like 12% of a plan. maybe 10%. Luffy is reading to go, but gives Chopper some time to make sure Zunesha and the minks are all good.

GOTTA RUUUUN! Love to hang longer but i got someone--The Straw Hats finally figure out a little bit more about Sanji's sudden departure. With this sudden change of circumstances, they debate on how to proceed. Due to their quick action to help the minks, they luckily seem to have a bit of an inside connection with the Big Mom pirates. How much of one remains to be seen.

Wanda finally fills the others in on Jacks attack of Zho. In the mean time, we still have no answers on what happened with Sanji. Annabelle is not having it....

We are back to our anime watch through! The crew arrives at the island of Zho, though I dont know that island is the correct term. Kinnemon and Kanjuro get delayed while Luffy and the others reunite with Nami and Chopper. The biggest question mark....where is Sanji?...

With Boroque Works plan at full throttle, only Usopp is left to handle the assassins himself. One by one, he is able to free his friends from the snares of death. A major change happens this week compared to the anime and it will be interesting to see how it changes things going forward.

The only thing that matches her beauty is her ferocity. Miss All Sunday offers the crew an easy way to Alabasta, but Luffy is not having it. After the high tension encounter, the crew makes landfall on the island of Little Garden. They are not the only ones there. The island is also home to dinosaurs as well as 2 giants!! The straw hats quickly bond with the giants, but the fun is short lived when several Boroque Works agents remind them that they aren't out of the woods yet.

The Straw Hats make landfall at their first island on the grandline, Whiskey Peak. They are met with an unexpectedly warm welcome. When things are too good to be true, usually it is because they are. Our favorite pirate crew has stumbled onto an island inhabited entirely by Boroque Works assassins. Zoro, Nami, and Luffy do their parts to handle business and get out safely with the rest of the crew as well as a new passenger, Miss Wednesday, also known as Nefertari Vivi, Princess of Alabasta. Now back on open waters, they have another stow away...Miss All Sunday relaxes on the Merry and the crew is instantly ready for another fight.

The Straw Hat Pirates finally make their way into the grand line, but they are met with a massive obstacle that they did not expect at all. Quickly, Luffy makes a couple new friends in Crocus and Laboon. Nami gains a special new tool to help them on the journey and the crew sets sail, not knowing what's infront of them.

We wrap up the Dressrosa Arc with a bang as the Straw Hat Grand Fleet is formed. Fujitora and Luffy have one final clash before the Straw Hats departure. With one of their biggest foes yet now down, Luffy and Law head toward Zho and look in the direction of Kaido.

Luffy is back and ready to go. He upholds his promise and finishes the fight in one hit. Gyats has the city of Dressrosa roaring!!! Fujitora takes control of the narrative, and Fleet Admiral Akainu is not happy about it. We also get some news about the formal admiral, Kuzan, that has the pod perplexed.

Next Week: 737-742

Luffy finally shows us the next step he has taken in his development as a fighter and the wait pays off. Doflamingo is majorly struggling to hold off the Straw Hat captain...until he's not. Time is running out. Luffy is out of energy and the birdcage is collapsing.

Next Week: Episodes 731-736

Zoro is done playing around and has one of his best battle moments to date. Luffy finally gives in and finishes Bellamy in order to finally lend Law a hand. Doffy is feeling confident, but Law is chipping away at his facade while Luffy handles the physicality. The last of the Top Executives fall. Only Doflamingo remains.

Executives are beginning to fall and fall fast. The Straw Hats and the Colosseum fighters are making good headway to de-throne the Donquixote Family. Leo is able to rescue Princess Monsheri and Kyros finally gets his revenge, taking out Diamante.

Executives are beginning to drop and Doffy is slowly starting to unravel when he learns that he is facing not 1, but 2 members of the Will of D. Bellamy makes his final stand against Luffy while Sai metaphorically kneels to Baby 5. Dellinger is feeling confident but is quickly met by Hakuba!! Robin puts an end to this jeckel and hyde crap.

We are jumping straight into a flashback and finally learning what makes Law who he is. The duality of the Donquixote brothers is explored between Doflamingo and Rosinante. Cora goes out of his way to find a cure for Law and in the process, sacrifices himself so Law doesnt fall back into the clutches of Doflamingo.

Luffy and the colosseum fighters continue to surge toward Doffy's position. Zoro sticks back to toy with Pica and keep him busy while Sabo steps in to hold off the marines. Kelly Funk sets a trap for the straw hat captain, but things do not go according to plan.

Bartolomeo starts putting together dots that just arent connecting right. One of our listeners puts Derek through the ringer. Unlikely allies gather to pay their respects to God Usopp.

Sabo is making is own way through life, but makes a big stride to honor his fallen brother, becoming the next user of the Flame Flame Fruit. Usopp is able to beat Sugar, though it is in a very unorthodox fashion. Doflamingo's plan is beginning to slip with chaos beginning to unfold across Dressrosa.

Next Week: Episodes 680-684

We finally get an answer as to the Toy Soldiers identity, but things are starting to go down hill for the straw hats. Zoro is getting occupied in a dual with Pica while Luffy, Violet, and the Toy Soldier head off to face Doffy. Franky has a 3rd executive appear and Robin is turned into a toy, all while Usopp has one of his worst moments in the show. If you are an Usopp fan, may want to skip this one. We are not kind lol

Block D finally comes to a close and Doflamingo is really missing his eyes from above, even if he wont admit it to himself yet. Sabo is determined to end the final round fast in the colosseum.

With Doffy ready to sink the Sunny, Sanji and Law jump in. In order to get Caesar away from Doflamingo, Nami's group departs for Zou, leaving the remaining Straw Hats behind. Bartolomeo tracks down Luffy for Zoro and Rebecca continues her battle in the colosseum. The Toy Soldier reveals to Robin's group that he is indeed Rebecca's father along with the recent history of Dressrosa and how Doflamingo came into power.

Next Week: Episodes 660-664

Luffy celebrates his victory with his new friend Rebecca. Things have started off rockey, but no hard feelings as always. Rebecca takes the platform for her fight in Block D while considering the events that have led to this moment. Doflamingo drops a bomb on us while Violet continues her chess match.

Next Week: Episodes 655-659

Zoro struggles to make his way around the island. The Toy Soldier introduces Franky to the true horror of Dressrosa. The happiness is hides a civilization of true misery at the hands of its leader. Luffy demonstrates that he truly is a threat in The New World by taking out his first opponent with Conqueror's Haki.

Next Week: 650-654

The Straw Hats continue to get spread out across the island. Sanji is able to see past the mafia member side of Violet and into the caring and scared individual she truly is. Violet takes a huge step, betraying the Donquixote Family and helping the Straw Hats get a good start at achieving their goal. Luffy's fight in Block C begins as Law has a standoff with Doflamingo and Fujitora on the shores of Green Bit.

The Block B battle rages with several new characters making themselves knows, including a couple that are very quickly becoming pod favorites. Luffy has enemies sprouting all over this colosseum and he is doing his best to stay out of trouble. He may be out of luck though because Block C is up next. Elsewhere, Law's group awaits Doflamingo's arrival at Green Bit. On the Sunny, there seems to be an unwelcomed guest.

I was wrong. It was not a short episode. Actually I dont know that these End of the Arc episodes will ever be short, BUT we wrap up the arc with some good times and new outlooks on a few characters. Whitney returns to us just in time to get the victory celebration! Laws plan is slowly becoming a reality as he begins to poke the bear in the shape of one of the most dangerous warlords on the seas. In the meantime, a former admiral is also inbound to Punk Hazard for reasons unknown.

The marines and pirates begin to make their way through Caesar's lab. Not only do they continually face obstacles, but the poison gas continues to make it's way through the lab, pushing the straw hats and G5 faster.

Smiley eats a candy and his full power is unleashed across the island. Zoro and the others run for deal life while Luffy's group makes there escape and wait for the rest of the crew inside. The new Luffy/Law Alliance temporarily agrees to allow Smoker in. Who knows how that is gonna go...

Law is ready for his plan to kick into gear, but Luffy has other thoughts. Sanji risks Nami's neck to look out for our puzzled samurai friend and Smiley continues his way across the island.

Nami's group barges from the door of the lab with the kids, only to find....Trafalgar Law?!?! A fan favorite has returned but he seems to be acting a little strange and has aligned himself with an obvious antagonist. Questions continue to pop up on Punk Hazard, but the straw hats have already regrouped and are now filling eachother in on the situation. The trailer for the One Piece Live Action Season 2 released and we are breaking it down, looking forward to that release.

The Straw Hats have arrived at the mysterious island of Punk Hazard. Part of the crew gets kidnapped while the other half deals with a living hell. In the meantime, Smoker and his marines are approaching from the opposite shore. Another pirate from the past is lurking about, but they have yet to reveal themselves.
