Well That Escalated Quickly!!!!

Real Housewives of Reality Checks
In this episode I take you behind the curtain of one of those life moments nobody puts on a vision board. My husband casually drops the “I was let go today” bomb, and suddenly our tidy little world turns into a Lifetime movie starring me, my sweatpants, and a Costco-sized box of anxiety.
I walk through my very dramatic tour of the five stages of grief: denial, panic, more panic, crying and finally acceptance.
I find a job. A real one. With an alarm clock and grown-up clothes and people who expect me to know things before my second cup of coffee. I talk about the weird identity shift from stay-at-home mom energy to corporate America receptionist, and how starting over in midlife is equal parts terrifying and empowering.
Mostly, it’s a reminder that life has zero respect for our plans, but somehow we keep moving forward anyway. Sweatpants get folded, résumés get updated, and eventually the next chapter shows up whether you’re ready or not.

Honk If You Need a Hug-Let’s Talk Road Rage
Ever notice how perfectly normal humans turn into emotionally unhinged circus animals the second they get behind a steering wheel? In this episode, Dawn dives headfirst into the wild world of road rage. From the mysterious disappearance of turn signals to the psychological meltdown caused by someone going 5 miles under the speed limit, we explore why driving makes otherwise decent people lose their ever-loving minds.
Dawn questions whether zipper merging should be taught in kindergarten, and wonders why every commute feels like a low-budget action movie starring amateurs. With humor, honesty, and a little self-awareness, she reminds us that the person honking like a lunatic might just be… well… us.
Consider this episode a group therapy session for anyone who has ever screamed alone in their car while pretending to be a calm, civilized adult five minutes later.

Keith Morrison, Dateline, and our True Crime Obsession
Why do so many of us fall asleep to murder, wake up suspicious of our neighbors, and suddenly believe we could solve a cold case faster than the actual police? In this episode, I confess my deep, slightly concerning obsession with true crime, my emotional reliance on Keith Morrison’s voice, and why we all secretly think we’re one notebook away from cracking the case.
We’re talking Dateline addiction, the comfort of familiar danger, and that weird confidence boost we get from yelling “IT WAS THE HUSBAND” at the TV while folding laundry. I dig into why true crime makes us feel smart, prepared, and oddly soothed, even though it’s literally about people disappearing.
If you’ve ever gone down a rabbit hole, trusted your gut like a seasoned detective, or felt personally betrayed when the episode ends without answers, this one’s for you. Consider it therapy. Or evidence.

Word Slips, Brain Glitches, and the Hamburger Hotdog Incident
In this episode, Dawn recounts the moment her brain betrayed her in public when she confidently tried to order a beef taco and instead asked for a hamburger hotdog. What followed was not just family laughter, but a full internal spiral involving dementia, strokes, and premature placement in memory care.
Using humor, self-awareness, and a healthy dose of sarcasm, Dawn unpacks how one small verbal glitch can send our minds straight to worst-case scenarios. She explores why so many of us immediately assume something is “wrong” with us, especially when we’re tired, stressed, hormonal, or carrying everyone else’s mental load.
This episode isn’t about medical diagnoses. It’s about panic thoughts, overthinking, and the very human experience of a brain that occasionally buffers in public. If you’ve ever forgotten a word, blanked mid-sentence, or scared yourself over something small, this one’s for you.
Spoiler: it’s probably not the beginning of the end. It’s just your brain doing its best.

Every Time I Try to Work Out, Something Tries to Kill Me
"The Year of Health That Tried to Kill Me"
In this episode, Dawn unpacks her not-so-successful journey with motivation, quitting the gym in her mind over and over, and how her best intentions somehow ended with matching orthopedic footwear instead of matching fitness goals. Naturally, Carol — Dawn’s inner nag and full-time interrupter — has plenty to say about the chaos.
This isn’t a motivational fitness episode. It’s a very honest reminder that sometimes life claps back hard when you try to glow up — and the best you can do is laugh while limping through it.

Why Getting Dressed Feels like a Personal Attack
You've heard of apples, pears, bananas… but have you ever been personally victimized by a body type named after fruit? In this episode, Dawn takes you down her hilariously exhausting journey through every fashion framework on the internet — fruit shapes, color seasons, Kibbe types, essences, and more.
With personal stories, questionable outfits, and a few spirals triggered by Pinterest, Dawn reveals the moment she realized she doesn’t need strangers to tell her who she is — especially not when it comes to her closet. Naturally, her inner nag Carol has opinions about all of it.
If you've ever stood in front of your closet wondering why your favorite shirt suddenly looks like betrayal — this one’s for you.

THE RESET: Just Me and My Brain
After nearly four years of interviewing experts and hosting a variety show, Dawn is doing something a little radical: she’s flipping this podcast on its head. No more guest pressure. No more pretending to have it all figured out. This is the start of something new — something messier, funnier, more honest — and way more Dawn.
In this ep, she pulls back the curtain on her decision to ditch the old format, open up her brain for your listening pleasure, and introduce you to her inner nag — Carol — who has plenty of unsolicited comments and zero chill.
This isn’t a self-help show. It’s a self-talk show.
If you’ve ever wondered “Does anyone else think like this?” — yep. Dawn does.
And Carol has thoughts about it.

New Season of Dawnversations In My Head!
This podcast is for you if you’re listening to this on your way to work…
you’re already late…
there’s coffee on your pants…
and you may or may not have just argued about paper towels before you left the house.
It’s for you if you’re trying to do better than yesterday, but yesterday was also kind of a mess.
If you want to work out, eat better, get dressed, get your life together…
but somehow the smallest things completely derail you.
Annnnnnd it’s for you if the voice in your head won’t shut up.

Facebook, Instagram, and the Comparison Curse
In this relatable episode of Dawnversations, Dawn dives head-first into the world of social media madness — where likes, followers, comments, and algorithms seem to control our moods more than we’d like to admit. From Facebook frenzies and Instagram insecurities to TikTok temptations and YouTube comparison traps, she breaks down how social media can mess with your confidence, relationships, and even your sanity.
Dawn exposes how easy it is to spiral into “scroll and compare” syndrome — and how to stop caring so much about what everyone else is posting. Whether you’re guilty of Facebook stalking, overanalyzing a ‘seen’ message, or wondering why that one person unfollowed you (rude), this episode will make you laugh, think, and probably check your screen time.
If you’ve ever felt triggered by social media — or just want to reclaim your peace, power, and personality online — this one’s for you.

The ‘Let Them’ Theory Controversy and Living as a Highly Sensitive Person with Andy Mort
In this episode of Dawnversations, I sit down with Andy Mort, host of The Gentle Rebel Podcast, for a conversation that blends controversy with self-discovery. We kick things off by diving into the Mel Robbins “Let Them” theory—where it came from, who really said it first, and why plagiarism in the online world sparks such strong reactions. Then we shift gears into something more personal: Highly Sensitive People (HSPs). Andy shares his insights on what it truly means to be highly sensitive, how to know if you might be one, and why sensitivity is often a hidden strength rather than a weakness. Whether you’re here for the internet drama or curious about uncovering new parts of yourself, this episode is thoughtful, engaging, and full of “aha” moments.

Cognitive Reset Protocol with Chuck McGee lll- Slow Down Sundays
Chuck says: "As a Type 1 Diabetic and Traumatic Brain Injury survivor, I have faced many personal health challenges. For years I was searching for practical and impactful ways to improve my health. In 2015 I was reintroduced to breathwork, and after feeling the benefits as well as the massive shift this brought into my life, I switched professions and dedicated my life to helping others discover their own personal power to help themselves.
Since then I have traveled worldwide studying different breathwork modalities. My first introduction to conscious breathwork was through the Wim Hof Method, which included weeks of instruction from Wim Hof himself. I was the first American Instructor to help lead the Wim Hof winter expeditions in Poland, and I continue to expand my knowledge in this and other breathwork modalities.
Now, for more than half a decade, I have been working in a healthcare setting applying foundational and functional breath coupled with specific breathwork protocols to help reduce chronic pain, anxiety, and depression. My goal is to empower people through their own personal and individual breathwork."
"Everyone’s physiology is different, I know there is no cookie cutter approach to optimal health, however I believe that functional breathing can positively impact everyone."

Breathing Secrets for Health and Healing with Chuck McGee lll
Think you know everything about Breathwork? Think again! This week on Dawnversations, I sit down with Chuck McGee, a Type 1 Diabetic and Traumatic Brain Injury survivor who discovered a surprising key to healing and resilience: breathwork. After experiencing a massive shift in his own health, Chuck left his former career to dedicate his life to teaching others how to unlock the power of their breath.
From studying directly with Wim Hof (yes, that Wim Hof) and helping lead winter expeditions in Poland, to applying breathwork in healthcare settings to ease chronic pain, anxiety, and depression — Chuck has seen firsthand how the way we breathe can transform the way we live.
In this conversation, we myth-bust what breathwork actually is (hint: it’s not just deep breathing), explore its role in mental and physical health, and talk about why there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to wellness.
✨ If you’ve ever wondered how something as simple and natural as your breath could be the missing piece in your health puzzle, this episode is a must-listen. Find Chuck here: https://www.instagram.com/icedvikingbreathworks

Stuck in Our Screens: Social Media, AI, and Why Adults Are Worse Than Kids
This week on Dawnversations, I chat with author Katy Allen about her new book Stuck in Our Screens. Spoiler alert: the drama isn’t just with teens—adults are just as guilty (maybe worse!). We dive into how our phones, scrolling habits, and social media antics are messing with real-life conversations, family dinners, and friendships. But don’t worry—we keep it real, relatable, and yes, even a little funny. If you’ve ever side-eyed someone at the table glued to their phone (or been that person), this episode is for you.
KATHLEEN P. ALLEN is a graduate of the University of Rochester, Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development, Rochester, NY. A lifelong educator, she worked with the Alberti Center for Bullying Abuse Prevention at the University at Buffalo, SUNY from 2012 to 2023. Buddha, Breath, and Giving F*cks Sparingly: A Chill Chat with Mike Carnes
In this episode of Dawnversations, Mike Carnes returns after his popular Slow Down Sunday Episode: "Meditations for People Who Struggle With Meditating". We dive deeper into the mindset shift that led him from Lutheran roots to a peaceful Buddhist practice. We explore Buddhist philosophy, the power of mindfulness, and how the book The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fck* helped reshape his view of life, spirituality, and letting go. Mike also shares his deep admiration for Thich Nhat Hanh and what it really means to “be” your meditation.
If you've ever struggled with overthinking, spiritual identity, or sitting still long enough to breathe—this one’s for you.
Mike is a meditation teacher and voice actor who helps people slow down, breathe, and find a little peace in the middle of everyday chaos. He found meditation during one of the hardest chapters of his life and quickly realized it wasn’t about sitting on a mountaintop — it was about learning to stay present while doing the dishes or navigating rush hour. His style is down to earth, no fluff, and made for real people with real lives.
