Hi listeners and thank you for tuning into the women17 podcast. It’s just me today for my 40th and final podcast episode.

I started the podcast in 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic as a way to elevate global women’s voices who are contributing to the sustainable development goals. These amazing women are from all over the world including 17 different nationalities spanning 16 different countries. We have covered topics such as sustainable sanitary pads in India, a sustainable island community in the Philippines, green mobility solutions for rural women in Africa, repurposing discarded fishing nets in Canada, food waste tracking in Norway, welcoming refugees in my hometown, Pittsburgh PA, to recycling bras for underprivileged women. I feel so honored and privileged to have learned from these women. They have inspired me to do better and I hope they have inspired you also!

Today I have the pleasure of speaking with Natalie Roschnik, Senior Nutrition Advisor at Save the Children UK. Natalie is a public health nutritionist with an MSc from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine with over 20 years’ experience supporting nutrition and public health programmes in Africa and Asia. Natalie is also a doctorate student at the Institute of Global Health at the University of Geneva.

A confluence of family upbringing, exposure to African culture at a young age, a remote expedition in Indonesia, teaching overseas, and dash of serendipity led Natalie into the nutrition field.

Today I am very excited to speak with Olivia Choong, writer, communicator and environmental activist based in Singapore. Olivia is a communicator, nature lover and believer of a sustainable society. She connects people to nature and environmental topics through her gardening and self sufficiency blog and YouTube channel, The Tender Gardener, and facilitates dialogues on sustainability issues through Green Drinks (Singapore), where she is the President.

Thrilled to be speaking with Charlotte Aschim, the CEO & Founder of TotalCtrl, a global food waste prevention software company that helps consumer-facing businesses optimize their operations, cut costs and prevent food waste. TotalCtrl focuses on SDG 12- responsible consumption and production and specifically on indicator 12.3 that focuses on cutting global food waste by half by 2030.

Very happy to be speaking with Natalie McIntosh today, founder of Nautical Waters, an organisation whose mission is to repurpose discarded fishing nets, known as ‘ghost nets’, and fishing gear from the east and west coasts of Canada. Natalie is 15 years old, in the 10th grade, and lives in London, Ontario, Canada with her family. Welcome, Natalie!

In today's episode I interview the inspiring Lindsay Sobel, the founder of Shoes for Souls, a charity that collects and donates shoes to various homeless shelters throughout Southern California.

Liv is a mum of two and is passionate about changing the world of maternal mental health for the better for her daughters and the generations of women to come.

Today's interview is with Dr. Claudia Seymour, an applied social researcher and author with over 20 years of experience, working in conflict-affected environments in Sub-Saharan Africa. Her research focuses on Sustainable Development Goal 16- Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions and specialises in youth, child protection, resilience to armed violence, children’s disarmament, demobilisation and re-integration, and young people’s engagement with violence. Her book, 'The Myth of International Protection', is based on a decade of her work as an international protection actor and researcher and tells the stories of young Congolese surviving violence, and reflects on how international aid can do harm.
