Krystal (with a K)
Season Three Episode Ten: Krystal (with a K)
This week, we talked to Krystal (with a K).
Krystal is a very inspiring artist whom you should know.
Here is her bio taken from her website:
Krystal (with a K) is a multidisciplinary artist and poet. She has been writing longer than she's known the English language. As a child, she'd sit for hours, writing tight little loops in place of words to tell the stories she came here to share. Since then, she has picked up the necessary skills to write for others as well - no matter how thoroughly she continues to rebel against general grammar. From start to finish she has a creative hand in as many dimensions of her works as possible. As a published model and signed actress, she has a special ability to produce marketing materials and networking for her physical artwork. When it comes to the creation of her art, she prefers to create as much of it as she can herself, recycling paper to paint and illustrating her poems are just a couple ways she satisfies that aim.
Inspired by other 21st century feminist poets such as Janne Robbinson, Rupi Kaur and Brooke Solis, she learned that poetry allows for self- expression unlike any other medium.
Krystal's words drip with a similar sensuality to that of Solis while it yells for freedom to the structures of this world like Robbinson. Poetry is a place for liberation, expression and true unbound freedom. Inspired by the impact that Rupi Kaur has made for women and for poets around the world, she has set out to self-publish her first physical collection. Being a multidimensional artist, she will illustrate and design the book entirely herself.
In the few short years of exploring the nature of art, she has found a firm foothold in the abundant creative community of her hometown, Reno, Nevada. In the coming years, it is sure to expect an ever growing reach and impact as she takes on marketing her first book across the country.

Tricia Poulos Leonard
This week, we sat down with Tricia Poulos Leonard.
Tricia is an abstract and multi-media artist who is very active in the Reno Arts Community.
Here is her bio from her Artists Co-op Page:
As a painter, I find inspiration in the world around me. I employ a personal vocabulary of marks and colors that reflect the natural world. My work varies from representational to abstract, and I am continually moving between the two styles. I tend to work in series, either with the materials I use or the exploration of imagery. Every painting is an experiment to me. Sometimes, the end product is a surprise, even to me. My materials, techniques, and interests all direct me to a place that craves a connection to the world we live in.

David McCamant
This week, we talked to David McCamant about his career in art, teaching art, and more.
Here is his Bio from his website;
Contemporary Impressionist
David McCamant (born 1958) paints his sky and landscape works as illuminated impressions of his subjects. He is intrigued by the relationship of the quality of light and the objects observed. Both a student of light and instructor of composition, David guides his students in the ancient application of Dynamic Symmetry to infuse their work with the powerful dynamics of the natural world. Always pushing himself forward, David is driven to maintain the abstract nature of painting while still communicating the true sense of place and time. “My ultimate goal is to create wonderful impressions in time for people to experience forever.”
Born in Reno, Nevada, McCamant began his personal work during his long successful career as a commercial artist, illustrator, art director, creative director, animator, animation producer, and director. David trained himself in the artistic disciplines for most of his life until meeting his mentor and master painter, Brian Davis. Through him, David studied the techniques of many great American artists including Emile Gruppe, Richard Schmid, and the incomparable David A. Leffel. He mastered the oil medium with great rapidity under Brian’s direction.
David had the opportunity to visit Paris a few years ago. There, he became tremendously influenced by the impressionists’ use of color and light, especially the works of Pissarro and Monet.
McCamant’s work drew the attention of Acme Archives Direct in Hollywood, contracting him as a licensed Disney and Lucus film artist. He has been published in Art Business News, Professional Artist magazine and has received thirty-seven professional awards. His paintings can be found in the Renown Health permanent collection and private collections in the US, Europe, and Asia.
David has been involved with the Nevada Museum of Art and the E. L. Cord Museum School since 1999 — first as an advertising advisor then as an educator, it is his way to give back to the community. Currently, he teaches 14 different artistic disciplines from foundational to master classes.
