Casey Hilty: Her Children Arise

Casey Hilty: Her Children Arise

So far in this mini-series, we’ve talked about how we can see God and see Love in our midst. Through His creation surrounding us, we can see Him and learn more about Him and how scriptures can come to life. Now, we’re going to transition to what others see in us and we’re starting with those who are always watching (even when we think they aren’t)… our children. Today, my friend and author of Her Children Arise: Passing a Legacy of Faith to the Next Generation, Casey Hilty, is joining us.

Casey shares wisdom through all of her seasons of motherhood thus far, but for all you mommas who are launching your seniors or continuing to release them as they navigate college and young adulthood, Casey's words will be particularly encouraging to you.

Casey Hilty is a speaker, artist, worship leader, and author of Her Children Arise: Passing a Legacy of Faith to the Next Generation. Using storytelling and visual art, she is passionate about taking mothers on a journey to fall in love—or back in love—with God and His Word. Casey recently jumped back into the world of teaching after being a stay-at-home mom for 14 years. She and her husband, Bo, have three school- aged kids, a gaggle of pets, and call South Louisiana home.

Today we’re talking about:

  • What our children see in and through us

  • Fear of the Lord and its impact on our families

  • Legacy - shaping the next generation so they can shape theirs

Seeing God's Faithfulness through Photography with Dannah Jo

Seeing God's Faithfulness through Photography with Dannah Jo

Faith requires us to see differently. To help us understand this concept in a more concrete way, we’re talking with a good friend of mine, Dannah Jo, who has learned and continues to practice this through photography.

Dannah Jo is a Lifestyle and Wedding Photographer based in Oklahoma who strives to capture authentic emotion and connection. She loves taking a documentary approach to her photography and is passionate about using her artistry to tell a story through photos. You can connect with her at www.dannahjophoto.com

In the Old Testament, they used stones to remember God’s faithfulness. We believe photos can serve as modern-day stone of remembrance to help point us back to God’s nearness, His goodness and His faithfulness through the generations. We want to help you practice this, so check out my stories on social media this week to enter to win a free photography GIVEAWAY so you can be reminded of God’s faithfulness in your life.

Today, we’re talking about:

  • Feeling God’s love in our relationships
  • How photos can be used to remember God’s faithfulness
  • Learning to “see” differently through the lens of a camera

Susie Lipps: A Field Trip to Wine Country

Susie Lipps: A Field Trip to Wine Country

How can we see God? How can we see Love? Can we see Him and learn more about Him through His creation surrounding us? Today, my friend, Susie Lipps, who has a background in theology from Fuller Seminary, a passion for leadership and after being “banished” to wine country, her eyes have been opened to understand the Love of the Father and Son for us in a deeper way.

Susie Lipps (MAGL, Fuller Seminary) is a missionary kid from Honduras where she lived in a mud hut and went to boarding school. After God sent she and her husband to wine country, Susie created a wine-country retreat for leaders called Conversations in the Vineyard. She loves speaking on leadership principles from the vineyard, women in leadership, emerging leaders and telling stories of God’s faithfulness. She is fluent in Spanish and loves coffee (or wine) accompanied by good conversations and yummy food. Also check out the Conversations in the Vineyard blog.

Susie is walking us through the passage of John 15, where Jesus tells his disciples, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.” She brings key insight from her background in Bible translation to help uncover misconceptions as well as context she’s learned and observed in the vineyard to help us see this passage of scripture more clearly.

She’s helped bring this truth to life for me in a new way and I pray your love for scripture is deepened through this conversation too.

Today, we’re talking about:

  • A field trip to wine country - discovering truth in the vineyard
  • What it means to abide with Christ
  • Trading fear for the invitation to deep and loving intimacy with our Creator

Sarah Freymuth: Trusting God in the Hard

Sarah Freymuth: Trusting God in the Hard

Hard times are no respecter of persons, we all experience these, and like my friend, Sarah Freymuth points out, there are no instructions for times like these and no platitudes or forced positivity will bring us the peace we crave. Sarah is the author of All the Hard Things: 50 Days Through the Valley and is offering truth to help reinforce our faith in God’s intimate goodness. She writes:

“When we stare into a cavern of grief from the loss of a beloved one, or a medical diagnosis with a wicked track history, we’re faced with a faith that either holds up or unfolds, collapses or expands. It can get muddy when the platitudes we’ve held don’t seem to hold up under the sheer force of what’s threatening to knock us down.”

Sarah Freymuth is the content and storytelling manager for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and she writes for numerous platforms, including Proverbs 31 Ministries, YouVersion, (in)Courage, and She Reads Truth. Sarah loves unearthing God’s goodness in places that don’t feel good, with a heart especially for faith and mental health. She enjoys a simple Wisconsin life by Lake Michigan with her husband, Eric, and Beaglier pup, Alfie Hitchcock. Connect with her at SarahFreymuth.com and on Instagram at @sfreymuthawake.

Today, we’re talking about:

    12 Books of 2025 + 12 for Kids

    12 Books of 2025 + 12 for Kids

It's that time again... time to share the stories we've read and wisdom we've gained in the last year. I continued my commitment to read at least one book a month, and now I want to share my favorites with you ...and 12 titles for young readers, too!

I've said it before but reading requires discernment. We must be wise and discerning of what thoughts and information we allow into our minds and our hearts. For this reason, I practice the "chew and spit" method to reading and choosing new material. I take a first bite, and if it's nourishing, that is, if it aligns with the truth of God's Word, I take another bite. If it doesn't, I spit it out. These are a few of the books which I have chewed and chewed on this year, which the Holy Spirit has come alongside and nourished me - mind, soul and spirit. I share in hopes one or a few might intrigue you to read and chew upon.

An Unhurried Business this Holiday with Lauren Cunningham

An Unhurried Business this Holiday with Lauren Cunningham

We want to slow down to be present this holiday season, but how do we do this with our business? With year-end quickly approaching, we may feel victim to hurry and extended work days. Add the pressure of keeping up with social media and understanding algorithms to the mix and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Thankfully, we get to learn from my friend, Lauren Cunningham, who owns her own social media and marketing agency where she helps other female founders build their businesses online.

Lauren Cunningham is a host, entrepreneur, and founder of So Can I, which is a podcast and community that supports female founders. Each episode covers a different female founder, and Lauren hopes her listeners leave each episode thinking, "if she can do it, so can I." She is passionate about connection, community, and sharing the stories of other women in business. She firmly believes that encouragement is one of the keys to success. Today, we're talking about:

    • Creating a social media strategy for your business
    • Tips and tricks to make it fun
    • Ways to engage your audience with your content

Lauren offers a 30 minute complimentary call to go over pain points and see how she could be of assistance. For us here in The Good Day community, she also provided some tips to make social media fun for the holidays and first of the year:

    1. Keep an eye on special sounds and audios that trend during that time. It's such a fun time -- lots of holiday music and sounds will be popular.
    2. Consider doing something special for the 12 Days of Christmas, which is a good way to create consistency. Keep it light and fun!
    3. Remember people are likely running 1 million different directions in the month of December. Their attention spans aren't going to be what they would typically be. They are being inundated with links to shop and things to try. I think December is a good time to build brand awareness and have fun with trendy content. Then you can get back to the more educational content in January!
    4. Find a few accounts you admire in your industry and see how they approach the holidays on social media. It can be so helpful to look at other accounts and see what's working/what is not working for them!

Recently, God has been teaching her about what it looks like to slow down, create margin, and exchange her plans for His purposes, which she shares in her debut book, Unhurried, which was published earlier this Spring.

    Today, we're talking about:

    • How push back on hurry this holiday
    • Know when to hurry and how to create room
    • Spiritual gifts and what it has to do with all this hurry

Summer in the Psalms: Psalm 16 - When I'm Carrying Too Much by Bethany Kimsey

Summer in the Psalms: Psalm 16 - When I'm Carrying Too Much by Bethany Kimsey

My attempt to "do-it-all" shines brightest when it's time to carry in groceries. Sure, it's a lot and it's heavy, and yeah, I pushed it in a cart at the store, but now that it's time to carry it in the house, I decide to do this all in one trip. Deep breath.

Do you do this too? Maybe not with groceries but with all the various bags and burdens you carry for the day?

This tendency is something my friend, Bethany Kimsey has experienced too. She's sharing her reflection of Psalm 16 to help us surrender this load we're carrying to God and experience His freedom and the lightness He offers us today.

As a mother to 8 children, Bethany Kimsey has seen God radically change her messy motherhood from weary, anxious, and frantic to peaceful, joyful, and triumphant. She helps weary mothers win the battle against worry and fatigue as they understand their identity in Christ and rest in the hope of the Gospel in community with other moms. As a writer, speaker, and encourager of mothers, she wants to see a generation of mothers who can connect their motherhood to the love of Jesus in real and practical ways so that they can be confident.

She recently authored A Warrior Mama’s Prayers journal to help mothers pray intentionally over their children and anchor in gospel truths. This can be purchased at www.Bethanykimsey.com or on Amazon.
