As a queer-Latina, survivor, and mother to the cutest pug, Tannia learned from an early age that her role in this world was not only to bring light to injustice and unspoken pain, but also to heal herself, and her ancestors, and to support community healing. She received her Master's in Social Entrepreneurship from Pepperdine University in 2016 and joined FreeFrom in 2017. Since joining FreeFrom in 2017, she has launched, championed, and supported many different FreeFrom programs and projects. There is so much to do to end gender-based violence and to cultivate a world where we are all financially free, but Tannia is ready and up for the task along with the teams she oversees. She is so proud of the work FreeFrom has done and is excited to continue to move this work forward as the VP of Impact and Mission Delivery.

At The Hotline, Angela leads the strategy implementation and operations of Love is Respect to ensure that Love is Respect is the national resource to disrupt and prevent unhealthy relationships and intimate partner abuse by empowering young people through inclusive and equitable education, support, and resources.

Breaking Barriers Trailer
Welcome to Breaking Barriers, a podcast of the National LGBTQ Institute on Intimate Partner Violence. The Institute was created to significantly enhance the safety, well-being, support, and health of LGBTQ intimate partner violence survivors throughout the country. Data has consistently shown that LGBTQ people experience intimate partner violence at higher rates than non-LGBTQ people, with transgender people, bisexual women, and LGBTQ communities of color at particularly high risk. Yet LGBTQ people aren’t accessing supportive services. That’s where the Institute comes in. The Institute is a project of The Los Angeles LGBT Center, working in close collaboration with the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs and In Our Own Voices.
